Ice Skating

It’s become a tradition to go see my friend skate his Christmas Recital every year.  I don’t know much about this kind of ice skating but it’s fun to look at all the good kids. It’s difficult to take pictures of a sport you’re not familiar with as you don’t have a clue of what move comes next, but it’s still fun to try.

These guys were really cute and really good!

My friend did good, he said he missed a jump, but I was not able to tell.
 
I saw this guy last year and he made me speechless, I was happy to see him again this year!

Dec 9th, Fire Rock Pale Ale

I was nodding to myself as I took the first sip of today’s beer; Fire Rock Pale Ale from Kona Brewing Company, Kona, HI. Yes, this is how beer should taste! Definitely a 5 out of 5!

Great Grandma Lisa’s Marzipan Loafs

In my search of bitter almonds I found Pure Almond Extract (which if you study the label you’ll find out its not very pure at all), and that was exactly what I needed to make the marzipan taste just like grandma used to make it. 

All wrapped up and ready for a new home.

Dec 8th, Winter Solstice Seasonal Ale

You rarely drink beer out of a can nowadays, it seems like most of the good beers only gets served in a bottle. The Winter Solstice Seasonal Ale from Anderson Valley Brewing Company, Boonville, CA, was kind of blah as well. I am not very impressed. Bitter but also a wheaty taste. It feels like it’s missing something, it’s a little blend. Another 2 out of 5.

Tennis at the Satellite

We went to see Tennis playing at the Satellite. Miniature Tigers were opening for them and I’ve seen their name around, but didn’t really knew who they were. I recognized quite a few of their songs and they were really good live. Last time we were at this venue we saw Vanaprasta do an awesome performance, and that will be difficult to live up to, but the Miniature Tigers were really good as well! 

Tennis were up next and I was really excited. The majority of singers I like are men, I often tend to dislike a lot of female singers and the girl from Tennis is one of the few girls I like. It turned out though, they were not as good as I expected and I was a little disappointed. Most of their songs sounds the same.

Dec 7th, Monty Python’s Holy Grail

The name of this beer sounded promising; Monty Python’s Holy Grail Ale, From Black Sheep Brewery, Rochester, NY, and I really wanted to like this one, but I was not impressed with the taste. It’s a little like as if it is an ale version of Bud Light. Very watery. Another 2 out of 5.

Tempered over burning witches.

Dec 6th, Red Horse Beer

Beer of the day was Red Horse Beer, a lager from San Miguel Brewery in Philippines. Very fuzzy with a strong alcohol taste, makes me burp a lot. I’ll give it 2 out of 5.

Gingerbread House

I was visiting the Los Angeles Athletics Club in downtown LA and they had this giant gingerbread house in the lobby. I love gingerbread houses, maybe I should make one this year?

Repeal Day

On January 16, 1919 the government banned alcohol in America, thinking it would put an end to drunkenness, crime, mental illness, and poverty. But it only resulted in even more crimes and shenanigans so on December 5th, 1933 they started to allow the use of alcohol again. This has to be celebrated! I heated up some Glögg, put a little extra rum in it and poured it into a martini glass.
