Pingu Says

I’ve been bummed out and felt sorry for myself for a couple of days. My alarm went off at 6am this morning and it was pouring down with rain. I was miserable, until I found a note on the bathroom mirror!

Hooray for friends!

no. 19 Hoegaarden

Hoegaarden Original White Ale form Brouwerij van Hoegaarden, Belgium
Wit beer, 4.90% alc/vol.
Another wheat beer. I think Im getting used to the wheat now, still not m preference, but I can finish a bootle. 2 out of 5

Swedish Turkish Meatballs

We’re getting ready for Christmas. I spoke to my parents late last night and got the recipe for meatballs, they were fighting over the use of breadcrumbs and I am using turkey meat instead of beef, because we like Turkey.

Pretty nice assembly line.

I listen to both my parents and must say, the turkey meatballs turned out pretty damn awesome!
Oh, and then the home made red beet salad, of course!

Now, who’s coming over for dinner?

Paper or Plastic

Still raining, but we managed to get out of the house. Breakfast at Paper or Plastic on Pico Blvd.

Tip Tap

We had some major issues with our old apartment at the beginning of this year when there were water dripping from the ceiling every time it rained. It took forever for the landlord to take care of it which resulted in angry tenants that moved out.
We found a new place we love, but then the winter came and the rain started, and I again found myself waking up by water dripping. This time it made a little more sense, as was from the window and not from the ceiling in the middle of the room. The window was new when we moved in, but obviously not put in properly. I called the landlord and the handyman came out to “fix” it. Next rainfall came and more water came in. Handyman came out again, this time I got a brand new window and I was happy. Until last night  when it started again.

I live in a 3rd world country.

Christmas Party

I was invited to W’s company holiday party.
Even though I did not know anyone except for one person at the entire party, I had a lot of fun. The 60 year old owner walked around to each table making sure we had a good time, rocked the dance floor and made a point to say goodbye to everyone. I also heard he is a big fan of Bauhaus, it seems to be a fun company to work for.
I also won the centerpiece from our table which made the night even better!

no.18 Redbridge

Todays beer: Redbridge, gluten free sourdough beer.

Cool I thought at first, but then… I noticed it said Aunheuser-Busch, Inc. on the label. Yes, that is the big commercial brewery that is behind Budweiser and buy every brewery in the world that comes in their way (including Stella, Becks, Boddingtons to name a few) so they can get monopoly on the US beer market. To sum it up – I dont like Aunheuser Busch and I try to make a point not to drink their beers.

But here I am, holding one of their beers in my hand. The first taste is not bad, taste like Christmas, I try to figure out what it is when I realize it taste a little like the Swedish drink Julmust. But then the taste goes flat and it feels like they try to cover it up with lots of bubbles. Its a little better than bud light, but not very much.
It’s still cool that its gluten free

4% alc./vol.

Im feeling nice today, I’ll give it 2 out of 5.

Note: This was the first beer that I did not finish – which probably means I should give it a 1 out of 5.

Rainy Day

Woke up to the sound of rain.  I love the view from my bed some 350 days of the year when we have blue skies but today it looked like this;

My fohawk does not agree with rain so I stayed in most of the day even though I had a lot of Christmas stuff to take care of. After bumming around for most of the day I realized I had bought some red beets a few days ago that I wanted to cook. I had no idea how to cook them and thought it would take forever, but I looked it up online and it seemed fairly simple.
Wash them, cut them in half, sprinkle some olive oil, diced garlic and salt and pepper and then bake it in the owen for 30 minutes, super easy and delicious!
