A day Downtown Los Angeles

We’ve been camping over the Thanksgiving weekend the last couple of years but it didn’t fit with everyones schedule this year. I was a little bummed out we didn’t go but some urban hiking downtown LA definitely cheered me up.
We took the metro down, I like how you can see snowcaps as the backdrop of the city!

First stop for the day was the remodeled and reopen Clifton Cafeteria. It was a line to get in but it didn’t feel like we had to wait that long.

Once inside I was slightly confused how it all worked and then I got extremely frustrated because the guy who made my sandwich was suuuuuper slow. I think it is my culinary trained me that steps in and get stressed over things like that. Once I got my beer, I was all happy again though.
They have a large tree inside the cafeteria.

Next stop was the EightyTwo bar, a classic arcade for grown ups where you can drink alcohol. It’s a cultural thing. I don’t get it. I lost $2 within what felt like 30 seconds so I gave up and just concentrated on the alcohol.

They are closing down the classic Sixth Street Viaduct early next year so they can demolish the bridge and replace it. Apparently this landmark that’s been in a bunch of movies (Grease, Terminator, the Naked Gun etc.) has a 70% probability to collapse in a major earthquake, so it’s probably for the good that they replace it. We walked over to get a few last snaps of it.

I fell back in love with Los Angeles during this little walk. And also, I should bring out my camera more often.

The actual bridge;

Well, since there’s no water in California, the LA River bank should be used for something, right?

We get epic sunsets in southern California!

Next stop, the Angel City Brewery where we played Jenga and solved world problems.

We were gonna go to Wurstkuche for some good sausages, but the line was long so we went next door for burgers instead.

Walking back to the metro we passed by the Last Book Store. I’ve heard good things about this place and was more than happy to stop by and spend some time.

I bought a new book!

Black Friday

Any normal person refuse to go shopping on Black Friday. I had a very unmotivated day so in the afternoon I headed over to my friends house so we could be unmotivated together.
Netflix and chill!

No one was surprised when I fell asleep watching a movie. I was back home before 11pm and started decorating my x-mas tree.
Christmas has officially started at my house! My friends makes fun of my tree, but I love it!

Thanksgiving

I love our annual Thanksgiving potluck. I learned a few years ago to stay the heck out of the kitchen.

No potluck is complete without some Chinese food.

I don’t really care about any other food when there’s mashed potatoes on the table.

Snow Summit

A few of us decided last minute to head up to Snow Summit for a day of skiing.
It’s good to be back here. Need more snow, but it’s only early in the season.

Had a pretty epic veggie burger for lunch.

Failed bikeride

We had plans to go for a bike ride down to the South Bay today but my friend had a rough night and wasn’t feeling so hot so we only made it to the park when we decided to take a brake and give up the whole South Bay idea.

Later on in the day we found out Winnie was cooking so we headed over there to get fed. Delicious!

Beach day

I was skiing earlier this week and today it’s crazy hot so we made it into a beach day.

Mammoth day 4

Another beautiful day, I’ve gotten used to be up here now and don’t want to go back home.

I like it when people are wearing colorful clothes, it looks good in photos.

Broken poles

Woke up to blue skies, today was an awesome day!

After 11 years, 4 continents and 1 car crash, I guess I did one right turn too many. Time to go separate ways old friends.

Mammoth day two

Today was kind of gross. Cold, windy and flat light, but no people and well prepared slopes are always fun.

We usually find joy in any type of conditions, but today was just brutal, we gave up after an hour.

Went back to the cabin for beers and puzzles in front of the fire, and then this started to happen;

It’s gonna be a good day tomorrow!

Ski season started

Headed up to Mammoth and trying to remember how to ski. We are all super excited for El NiƱo to bring us some weather and we already have more snow than at any given time last year!
