Bar hopping

Like always, my guests got sick right away when they got here so we took it mellow yesterday. Today however they met up with me so we could do the classic bar hopping on the way home. It’s good for them to see a different side of Los Angeles, not just fancy hipster bars.

Bikeride

The Swedes bought two really cool bicycles to have when they’re here. They look just the same, just different colors, so now they’re like a married couple.

Swedes in town

Picking up the Swedes from the airport, haven’t seen them in about 18 months so I’m super excited to have them staying for a few weeks. Last time they arrived a day late, they got here on time this time, but one bag got lost along the way. Hopefully it’ll show up soon.

Westchester Golf Club

First time playing here and it turns out it’s fantastic, you can watch the planes take off and land while waiting for your turn! I am also playing much better now, took it easy and didn’t freak out over the fact that I’m playing a new course. It may not look like I’m playing better on the paper, but it feels much better, and I am at least hitting the ball.

Homebound

Woke up bright and early, I didn’t really want to get up, but I also wanted to pack up most of the stuff before it got way hot.

We had some amusement with our morning coffee, how long does it take for the ants to pick up the cheetos? It took them a little to long, none of us had the patient to wait and see.

All right folks, its a wrap, see you back in Los Angeles!

Camping in Joshua Tree

We got up before the sun and drove 2.5 hours into the desert, we’re going camping with the REI.

I get excited every time I see the windmills by Palm Spring, we were so busy talking about them this time so we missed our exit and had to do a little 6 mile detour.

Got to our site around 9 am and set up camp. It was already hot by then.

REI had a few events planned out for us, one of them was Geocaching. We got coupled up, handled a GPS receiver and sent off to the desert to find things, it was super fun!

Once we found everything that was to be found we headed back to camp for lunch and chill in the shade.

We did rock climbing in the afternoon. I’ve never done it before but it was awesome! I can see myself getting into that, but I think I’ll stick to ski and golf.

Look, I do stuff!

WTF Nathan!

We found an elephant!

Golf

It’s been a bit of a habit for us to go golfing on Fridays after work but it’s getting dark quick now so I think this might be the last week they’ll stay open late.
I rushed to the course and managed to check in before 6pm. The started gave me a hard time about it and pointed out I had to be out of there before he closed the gate at 7:30pm, but he still let me play.

I am a bit of an expert on finding abandoned golf balls, I think I got that skill from my grandfather who used to walk his dog by the golf course and always picked up lost balls.
Most of the balls I find are not that awesome, some of them are pretty good and a few are really crappy practice balls. Since I still kind of suck at the whole golf thing, I don’t really think it matters what balls I am playing, but everyone else makes fun of me for playing with the practice balls so I hit the range today and got rid of them.

Everyone mark their balls differently so you know which ones is yours when you play in a group. A few months back I started to mark my balls with the date I found them. Let’s see how long it takes before I lose this one!

I’m supposed to be packing for the camping trip this weekend, but packing is boring. Drinking beer is more fun.

Empire of the Sun at Hollywood Bowl

Since I made a commitment yesterday, I started the day with a round of golf. Played much better today, just got to shut up and look at the ball!

It’s super hot and I had some time to kill between golf and concert so I headed down to the beach, the water is still super nice!

Picnic at the bowl! Excited to see Empire of the Sun for the first time.

A few of us headed down to the front and danced until we got blisters on our feet.
Flip flops may not be the best concert shoes.

ABBA the Concert at Hollywood Bowl

Started the day with a round of golf, played really crappy and came to a decision that it’s time to get real and step it up. Time to get my shit together, concentrate and take it a little more serious.

Had a quick nap in the afternoon and then off to the shuttle bus to Hollywood Bowl!

I’ve seen this show before and they’re not as awesome as the real ABBA, but it’s still a really fun show!

The event wasn’t sold out and I sneaked in to the box seat when no one was looking. I only got to spend one song there though before someone came to kick me out.

Takoyaki

We were making Takoyaki for dinner today.

I will tag this photo “multicultural female friends having a good time cooking in the kitchen, smiling, laughing” in my stock photo library.

Delicious little octopus balls!
