CicLaVia Culver City meets Venice Beach

CicLaVia made it back to the west side and I was super happy as I missed last years Venice Blvd edition. I think I was a little more excited since Culver City is my city and Venice Beach is my beach.
First stop was the Mar Vista Farmers Market where we all was gathering before continuing further west.

I was the first to arrive because I am still, after 9 years, on European time. I found an excellent spot to sit down and wait for the rest and had to take a photo of Leo as soon as he arrived.

Because of this…

We started off with a light overcast but it burned off after lunch and we got clear blue skies!

Yes, we love photo-bombers!

Manhattan Beach

Having a beach day in the South Bay, they pace is way different down there.

Can’t sit still too long, got to take a walk to the 90210 beach house and back!

Under Armour shoes

I was actually happy with my old running shoes and even though I’d had them for a few years they were holding up well. They were however starting to tear up in the back which gave me blisters on my heel. They (shoe companies) say you should buy new running shoes every 6 or so months so I thought I’d buy myself a new pair.
I got myself a pair of Under Armour, and I hate them.
My feet are pretty messed up and deformed from wearing ski boots ~200 days of the years in my early 20’s. Since I don’t ski as often any more my feet has gotten back to somewhat normal, but the deformation is still kind of there and after a day of walking in these shoes the pain was back. After two days of running in the shoes, my feet were still hurting and on top of that, my knee started to hurt like crazy as well. I always fear for the worse and was convinced I had a torn ACL and MCL and everything else possible that could’ve been wrong with my knee.
My brother tried to calm me down by saying I probably just have to get used to the new shoes and everything will be fine. After I’d told everyone about my messed up knee so they could feel sorry for me and give me attention, I woke up the next day and was perfectly fine! That made me happy, let’s get right back into it and skip the resting!
My messed up, deformed feet were still hurting though, but then this morning I remembered I once complained to the pro ski boot fitter about my feet and he brought out a knife and started to cut the inner boot and solved some of the problems. I did surgery on my running shoes with a pair of scissors and problem solved!
I think next time I should ask a professional to help me fit my running shoes so I don’t have to go through this whole thing again.

Bar Humping 2.0

My pants made a bold statement today, I found that to be pretty rude! I was debating if I should throw the pants away or go to a tailor and get them fixed. My friends told me to go to a tailor, so now the pants are gonna sit at home for a few months before I realize I never gonna go to a tailor and then eventually throw them away.

We did the Bar Humping 2.0 today when we hit up all – or at least a bunch – of the bars on the walk home from my work. We did a lot better today than last time, maybe because we knew what to expect and didn’t mess around with the strong beers, I am starting to accept Bud Light for occasions like this. Maybe I am getting a little Americanized.

Hanging with the crazy

The summer is in full swing and I have been very bad at using the beach! Met friends down by Venice Beach after work and it’s pretty nice down there when you get it in small doses at the time. Makes me appreciate where I live.

Mammoth Hike

I’ve been wanting to hike up to the top of Mammoth Mountain for a while and I finally got to do it!
I thought I was gonna die after the first 10 minutes, it’s not easy to live on sea level and think you can just drive up to 8 000 ft and do a hike up to 11 000 ft, it’s pretty tough on your lungs…
Once I got acclimatized it was pretty smooth though.
It’s really, really sad to see how brown it is and how little water there is in the lakes.

Sierra Star Golf Course

I did my first ever round of 18 hole golf today. So fancy, I was told I had to wear a collared shirt.

I had some good holes and some bad holes, lost a few balls in the water but also found a few that someone had left behind, so overall a pretty decent round. I wanna play again!

I was a little tired at the end as someone thought it was a brilliant idea to do shots of rum at 2 am last night. The green grass is also so inviting when you’re used to the concrete jungle!

That’s not my name

We were road-tripping for a summer weekend in Mammoth and stopped by in Lancaster for some junk food. I have learned to say Yes right away whenever the barista/cashier is repeating my name, it doesn’t matter how many times I say it, they still don’t get it right.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner for three people for a weekend. This is when we realized it’s awesome to be grown ups.

4th of July

Spent all day just lounging in the pool, then BBQ and chill to soft music until the wee hours.
