JPL Open House

We headed over to the open house at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory to check out some cool space stuff after the Hello Kitty exhibit.
Unfortunately it was way to hot and crowded for me to enjoy or even care that much, but it was still pretty interesting. I think growing up in a country that wasn’t really involved with the whole space race thing makes me not as excited about this as my friends who did.

Since we were not that far from HaiDiLao Hotpot, we went there for dinner, they’re making the noodle dance table-side!

Hello Shitty Museum

I had really no desire to go to the Hello Kitty exhibit at the Japanese American National Museum, but then I got an invite for the opening day, so why not.

A replica of the first Hello Kitty item that was put out on the market.

Martin with his painting.

At the DMV

The most dreaded office in this country is probably the Department of Motor Vehicles. I lost my license and had to pay them a visit today.
I had an appointment so it was super smooth, but I didn’t know I had to do the written tests over again. That made me all nervous to the point that I wanted to cry and throw up. I had no issues with the regular test but failed the motorcycle test. Mostly because I am retarded, don’t know anything about motors, and the questions are asked weird. Fortunately, I just had to wait for 10 minutes and could redo the test. Pretty happy I passed the second time around so I could scoot home.

Wedding planning

Friends are getting married, and since I called it before they officially started dating 5 years ago, I get to be in the party and help with the planning!

Ear dry drops

I got a bunch of water in my ears after jumping in the ocean over the weekend and have heard a clicking sound in my right ear since last night. That can’t be good.
Someone once poured a shot of gin in my ear when I couldn’t get the water out after a day at the beach. The alcohol will force the water out and then absorb and it totally worked. I however don’t think pouring gin into my ears is best practice, so I went to the pharmacy and picked up the proper thing. Hopefully it will work. If not I’ll have to call on my friend.

Sunday

I’ve always been a morning person and even though I stayed up late last night I woke up early, rested and refreshed.
I love beating the crowd and do a round of golf before it gets super hot and the rest of Los Angeles wakes up.

It’s a short course so I was done by 10am and decided to go for a bike ride down to the beach. The morning fog wasn’t even burnt off when I got there. Still a ton of people and the water is super sweet.

Finished off the day by watching Romeo & Juliet.

Said the Whale at the Bootleg Theater

Said the Whale was playing the Bootleg. I’m not super familiar with their music but it’s been a while since I’ve been to the Bootleg so I wanted to go anyway.

Irontom was warming up and I thought they were super weird at first but they got better after a few songs.

Said the Whale was ok, a little to mellow for my taste.

Zuma Beach

Since it’s 5000 degrees out, we decided to have a beach day!

Saw a bunch of dolphins!

The water was super nice and the lifeguard kept themselves busy. Someone was not so lucky and had to be airlifted.

Baking

My sister always make me bake when I am in Sweden. The sous chefs do what they’re told, most of the time.

Took the pony down to the beach for a ride after lunch.

Helping the kids with their homework. It’s a tad bit depressing that these kids are better at reading out loud than I am.
