Cat Duty at the Winn

I have been put on cat duty.

Didn’t take Whitey many seconds before he crawled up in my lap. Awww, he loves me!

As I was about to leave I noticed this – is it something we should be worried about?

Since I was lazy this morning and didn’t walk to work, it was nice to get a text message in the afternoon asking if I wanted to hike up the hill before dinner!

Robyn & Röyksopp at Hollywood Bowl

The Hollywood Bowl season just started, first off on my list Robyn and Röyksopp.
If someone had told me 20 years ago I was going to see Robyn in concert, I would probably have had a good laugh. Not a huge fan. But I absolutely love Röyksopp and I knew it was gonna a big dance party, so I was excited!

The fun part with the Bowl is that you can bring your own food and alcoholic beverages. I stopped by Fresh & Easy on the way and had to buy this bag of… whatever it was… popcorn like snack, because of the typo in the ingredients list. I wonder which proofreader is gonna get in trouble! And yes, I am a bit of an ingredient freak and check the list of ingredients in most food I buy. This is why it takes me FOR EVER to go grocery shopping.

Everyone, look like you are having a good time!

As always, we got the cheap seats way up at the top. Could not wait to start dancing though!

In the middle of the show, as me and Leo were standing way back, behind the last row of seats (since there’s more space to goof and wave your arms around), two lovely people came up to us and asked if we wanted box seat tickets way in the front. We just had to promise that we would actually go up to the front and use them. Change our $17 tickets for some $111 tickets? Sure!

Our original seats were way up there by the trees! I like to think it was my moves and his boobs that made us score these tickets.

Burro Schmidt Tunnel

There’s a ton of sightseeing to be done on the way between Los Angeles and Mammoth, but we are always blinded by the snow and don’t care about anything else. On the way up on Friday we once again drove by the Burro Schmidt’s Tunnel sign and said “yeah, we should visit it some time”. Since “some time” tend to happen “never”, I just threw it out there… why don’t we stop by on the way home? Said and done! Since we’re not skiing we could leave early, stop by the tunnel for a couple of hours and still be home in good time.
10 miles on a dirt/sand road? No problem!

I didn’t really know what to expect, all I knew about the tunnel was that Schmidt dug it out so that his donkeys wouldn’t have to hike over the ridge between the mining area and the smelter.

So it took him 38 years to complete the tunnel. During that time, someone had built a different road so there were no real need for the tunnel anymore, but I guess he was a little stubborn and wanted to complete the tunnel anyway.

He even made a storage!

We made it out to the other side, the views are stunning!

Horseshoe Lake Hike

Headed up to Mammoth for the weekend. I got lazy and didn’t bring my camera, which I off course regretted right away. Now I have to rely on the iPhone camera throughout the weekend. I am not gonna allow myself to be lazy and not bring my camera from now on…
I was excited for Mammoth, I have never been here during the summer before.
We did a short ~90 minute hike around the Horseshoe Lake and it was beautiful! I know the town is called Mammoth Lakes, but I’ve never paid attention to the lakes part, only really cared about the mountains.

I read up on these dead trees; apparently the mother earth is releasing a bunch of carbon dioxide that are suffocating the poor trees.

The hike wasn’t that tough, so there were still some energy left for a bucket of golf balls.

This driving range is super chill!

Best part of the day;

I was helping out with some interior design in the new house, we managed to put the hooks up on an almost straight line.

They have this chandelier in the house, it’s way awesome!

Dockweiler Beach

There’s only two beaches in Los Angeles where you can have bonfires, Dockweiler is one of them. Friends “had some stuff to burn” and I was already in El Segundo, so I stopped by.
I got served Bud Light in a used 7/11 coffee cup, very classy!

Another Southern California sunset, this reminded me that I should spend more time on the beach.

Stacking 4 shipping pallets on the fire. Worst idea ever! It got a little warm.

Zack & Ina at Full Belly Farm

We made it up to Sacramento last night and continued the drive out to Full Belly Farm after lunch.
Our driver think he is cool.

This tower is apparently a big deal, so I had to take a photo of it.

First sign, we made it!

We got there early and had plenty of time to set up camp and relax before the party started.
Camping weddings are awesome!

Some wardrobe adjustments and we are good to go!

Very awesome handcrafted signs everywhere! Everyone had to take photos!

Sweet dinner and then dance all night!

Roadtripping

We are heading up to NorCal for a farm wedding. The big question was which shoes to wear for the party. I settled for Vans. Black Vans works for everything!

Israel Garcia Salon

Got my hair cut and was asked to take some photos for their new website. These guys are awesome!

Sunday

The Culver City 5k was today, I was considering running it, but then I got lazy. I headed over to Copenhagen to pick up some pastries for breakfast instead.

Watched the first football game of the day and then off to LACMA to check out the Van Gogh to Kandinsky exhibit.
