It’s Hot!

It’s been really hot over the last few days, makes you don’t wanna do anything, walk outside or even eat. I had FroYo for lunch.

My after work work got cancelled so I thought I could get some stuff done, like laundry. But my sinuses are still all clogged up and giving me a headache. That plus the heat is not a fun combination, so instead of laundry I took a nap.
The nap made me feel a lot better and after some bumming around I headed down to the beach to dip my feet in the ocean.

3rd St Promenade

I woke up at 9am thinking I was about to die. An Advil, 60 more minutes of sleep, a shower and a breakfast later I was all good to go! We had a much needed chill morning but headed down to Santa Monica in the afternoon. I like 3rd Street a lot, but I don’t come down here very often.

Working on the duck face while waiting for food.

You know you’re at a classy place when the toilet looks like this!

The Swedes are heading back home tomorrow. I don’t think I’m quite ready for it. Next time they’re gonna have to do their usual 2-3 weeks visit!

Culver City Classic Car Show

I knew Culver City had their car show today and was happy it was still going on as we headed down for some late lunch after the bike rodeo.

My friends has been nagging me all week long saying I really should get a new phone. I have been resisting, because I am cheap. I found out it will cost me about $100 to replace the cracked screen, and I don’t think it’s worth it so I was just gonna stick it out until the phone completely dies on me. Today however I tried to use a barcode to purchase coffee and the scanner couldn’t read it through the cracked screen. Off I go to the T-Mobile store.

Hello. I am gonna be nice to you. I’m gonna get a waterproof, shockproof case!

Bike Rodeo

The Palms Neighborhood Council put on a bike rodeo every year, this year was the 21st annual.

The organization Safe Moves was there to teach the kids how ride in the traffic.

A bunch of bikes were raffled out, I want one!

I have never quite gotten the whole shaved ice thing, but the kids seem to like it.

At the arts and crafts station, you could beautify your handlebars using toilet paper rolls. Awesome!

A local dance studio was there to perform as well, they had a lot of fun!

Father’s Office

I took the bus down to Abbott Kinney after work to meet up with the Swedes at Intelligentsia.

As usual we had no plans and just roamed around. After some window shopping we were trying to figure out what to eat for dinner. I suggested that maybe we could head back to Helms and go to Lukshon so they can eat fancy food from a “TV Chef”, and if they don’t like the menu, there’s still 3 other good restaurants in the area, one of which is tried and true Father’s Office, owned and run by the same known TV Chef.
Of course, we picked Father’s Office at the end.

Vegan Joint and a Boring Meeting

I had to attend a neighborhood council meeting today so we had no big plans more than dinner at the Vegan Joint. Everyone is still sick.

Even though there were only a handful of stakeholders attending the meeting it was really dragging. Things went on and on forever. I just wanted to leave after my report, but felt obligated to stay the whole way through.

Griffith Obervatory

We had decided to go to the Griffith Observatory today. We were all a little tired from the Cinco De Mayo celebrations last night so I left work an hour early to go to for pizza. Wildcraft Pizza in Culver City is good, but it is not as good as Pitfire Pizza. I should try 900 Degrees sometime.

The weather wasn’t awesome during the day so I thought we might had picked the wrong day to go to the observatory, but by the time we headed up there the sun came out and it was beautiful!

I had never been to Griffith Observatory before and it’s filled with really cool planet stuff inside. but we were not focused enough to be able to pay attention in there. We had much more fun outside just enjoying the view.

Sunday

We just roamed around the streets of Los Angeles today without any particular goal. Started off on Melrose, which was good because then we could have lunch at Urth Caffe.
The visitors has not been feeling so hot and the super cooties has started to affect me as well so I think I am coming down with a cold. I’m gonna do as I do best, just ignore it.

There were apparently a super cool store on Sunset Blvd, not to far, that had extremely awesome jeans from France. Off course we had to go there. I didn’t actually look it up, I just trusted the co-drivers. It turned out the store was by the Sunset Junction, a little further than I expected. We had nothing better to do though, and it was right next to Intelligentsia, perfect timing for some coffee!

We didn’t buy any jeans, but we did have some coffee before returning back to Culver City and dinner at Native Foods. We usually have Native Foods first thing as they arrive, but we’ve been busy so it took us a couple of days before making it this time.
