Sharks & Custom Burger

We rented kayaks and paddled around the marina for two hours, super cool and relaxing. I saw sharks!! We made it to Mother’s Beach and I saw a bunch of people on paddle boards pointing in the water and gasping “Sand Sharks!”. How cool! I’ve seen sand sharks before in Barcelona, little white harmless sharks that are about 3 feet with a cute little fin and teeth… I wanted to see so I paddled closer, and these were big suckers! They seemed to be as big as dolphins so I got a little freaked out and hurried away. I told the dude we rented the kayaks from and he said they used to hang out there and they could be up to 5 feet.
I know what I want for Christmas now… a waterproof camera.
Since we already were in Marina Del Rey and I love burgers, lunch at Custom Burger was a given!

Music For a Better Living @ the Hammer Museum

It was the last of the Summer Sessions at the Hammer Museum. I am not a huge fan of the Hammer, buy they have some really good exhibits every now and then, like the Graphic Design exhibit earlier in the year, and the current with the work of architect A. Quincy Jones, so maybe I should give it some more cred.

Bucato

Another birthday dinner. This time at the just open Bucato in the Helms district in Culver City.
It was opening night and the food was good, but I think the chef definitely have some glitches to work out. It’ll be interesting to go back in a couple of months to see if they have it worked out. We had an awesome basil ice cream for dessert and it inspired me to go home and make ice cream, time to put the ice cream bowl back in the freezer!

Washed Out at Sonos Studio

Washed Out were playing a few songs after a Q&A session at the Sonos Studio on La Brea, place was tiny and packed!
Washed Out were awesome!

Defrosting

I’ve heard you’re suppose to defrost your fridge every 6 months to save energy, and pretty much 6 months on the mark since I plugged the fridge in I discovered a huge block of frost. Good thing I don’t keep a lot of things in my fridge so it’s easy to empty it out.
Went to a birthday dinner at Figaro in Downtown LA, they had a few interesting beers, I tried Einstök from Iceland. Nothing amazing, but I like the label!

Busy Saturday

I really like waking up without an alarm clock on the weekends, totally recharged! Started off the weekend with a hike up the stairs. I have a love-hate relationship with these stairs.

Came back home and noticed my ginger had started to sprout! Turned out to be really easy to grow ginger, just dig the root in some dirt with plenty of water and let it sit for a couple of weeks and you will see magic!

Since I still haven’t learned how to turn when I surf, I ding up the board pretty bad. I finally got a chance to bring it in to the shop today. I should start surfing where there’s no rocks so I don’t have to spend all my money getting the surfboard fixed up.

I’ve heard about “Fridays off the 405” that lately has turned into “Saturdays off the 405” at the Getty Center, but have never been.
Geographer was playing today so we headed up there to check it out.
Parking was crazy and the beers were $10 (as expected), but it doesn’t really matter, because it is a free event and it’s fun!

The views from the Getty Center is always spectacular. Heavy fog over LA today though, so we couldn’t see anything, which is still kind of cool since it doesn’t happen that often.

Carwash

Oil change done, turn signal fixed and the car is clean, it’s as good as new!

Work Late

You wanna have a conference call at 10pm? Sure, share your screen and I’ll kick back with a glass of wine!

Copenhagen

Woke up early to drop off the car in the shop to get the oil change and the turn signals fixed.
Such a bummer the shop is right by Copenhagen Pastry… Danish for breakfast!

You Eat Ants?

It’s Winnies birthday tomorrow so we went to Typhoon by the Santa Monica Airport to eat some bugs!

Crickets anyone?

I tasted the ants, took a pass on the worms though.

You gonna eat that?

Excuse me sir, there’s a bug in my food!

I  made her a cake, bug free!
