Joshua Tree National Park

Not surprisingly, we had no serious plans for the weekend but decided to take a road trip to Joshua Tree.

Last trip to Joshua Tree I learned the tree’s got its name from some religious missionaries that thought the trees looked like Joshua reaching his arms up to the sky.

They are funny looking!

Stop for a picnic in the 100 degree something… why wouldn’t you?

The Skull Rock!

All deserts come with an oasis, right? This fascinates me!

My Cousins!

I haven’t seen my cousins in a year and a half, and before that who knows when I saw them last. I was so stoked to picked them up at the airport today. I know my cousins fairly well since we spend a bunch of time together as kids, but not seeing them for such a long time made me not really knowing what to expect to come out through the gate – are they gonna have long hair, short hair, are the youngest gonna make it past the border control etc… I figured I’d just look for the tall guy, the super tall guy and the girl who all look lost. They were super easy to spot!

I’m Glowing!

I had a conversation the other day with a friend of how I am glowing in the dark, he did not believe me, so I had to take a picture.

California Roots Festival

I am not a big fan of California roots music, in fact, with the exception of a few bands, I think it’s pretty crap. But I was invited up to the California Roots Festival up in Monterrey, and I had nothing better to do so…

Still had a lot of good time watching everyone move in slow motion.

I Voted!

I wasn’t sure if I was allowed to vote for the LA mayor today. You have to register to vote and when they sent out the voting cards I was still living in Culver City, so I never got any. I took a chance to and headed over there after work.

I got my sticker!

Plants

I decided to green up my balcony a little, so we walked around the neighborhood steeling cuttings.

Las Vegas

No Vegas trip is complete without a stop at a buffet! Since we were tired from driving, we all fell asleep early last night, and woke up early this morning! We headed over to the Excalibur buffet when we saw a sign of all you can eat all day at both Excalibur and Luxor for $32! We had to confirm, and it was really true; breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet, all for $32!
We had breakfast at Excalibur, it was really poor. Jumped in the pool and came back for a quick lunch before heading out to the outlets. Lunch was better, but still not awesome.
We went over to Luxor for dinner and I got to eat a colony of Alaskan Crabs! With a side of mashed potatoes, off course!

We stayed at Excalibur, because it looks cool!

There is a few things I like to do whenever I am in Las Vegas – eat buffet, gamble for $20, and check out the seasonal decoration at Bellagio. May was apparently Holland month.

We saw the Bellagio water show from a distance, but wanted to get up close. We hanged out for a while and started to wonder, shouldn’t it start soon, hasn’t it been more than 15 minutes? A quick search on the phone and we realized it was past 2am and the show is not running during at night. Lame, I thought everything was 24h in Vegas!
Got the classic shot of Paris though.

Yeah, we went shopping earlier – a lot of Vans shoes!
