Dec 15th Winter Hook #28

I was excited for today’s beer as it looked so cute wrapped in foil with a super short neck;
Winter Hook #28, Seasonal Series from Redhook Ale Brewery, Seattle
6.0% Alc./Vol,

Super good beer, it went down fast!  I give it 4 out of 5, it made me burp a lot.

The label says;
Redhook likes a little nip in the air.

Dec 14th, Orange Wheat

Very suspicious today as I open up my beer;
Hangar 24 Orange Wheat from Redlands California, not the biggest fan of wheat beer… I generally like Hangar 24 though, and this beer was not bad for being a wheat beer. I still can’t give it more than 2 out of 5 though. If I had to drink a wheat beer, this would probably be it, still a little to fizzy for my taste.
4.6% Alc./Vol.

The label says;
Crisp, Tangy & Refreshing. The citrus aroma, light airy mouthfeel and tangy finish are this unfiltered beer’s trademarks. This is accomplished by adding whole, locally grown oranges throughout the brewing process which perfectly coalesce with the wheat and barley base.

Dec 13th, Winter Brew

Not feeling so hot today so I am just gonna have my beer and head off to bed
Josephs Brau Brewing Co. Winter Brew Dark Duble Bock Lager, from San Jose, CA.
It’s an OK beer, maybe I am not that into it because I am not feeling so well, but I’ll give it a 3 out of 5. I would drink it again, but nothing to write home about.
7.5% Alc./Vol

The label says;
JoshephBrau Brewing Company’s WinterBrew is a rich, dark bock, inspired b the lagers Bavarian monks brewed to lift their spirits during the long fasts of Lent. The monks brewed this with dark roasted Munich and Caramel malts with flavorful results. Our WinterBrew is sure to do the same for you. 7.5% ALCOHOL BY VOLUME, 28 bitterness units.

Dec 11th, Sioux City Sarsaparilla

As I open todays beer, I saw the label saying Sioux City Sarsaparilla, the Granddaddy Of All Root Beers, made with cane sugar. I thought to myself what the… this is not even a real beer, right?
I however thought I’d give it a chance, poured it and had a sip, and it tastes like a mix of coca cola and toothpaste, pretty disgusting. I had to pour it out.
I don’t think I can rate this… It’d have to be a 0 out of 5.

Dec 10th, Victory Golden Monkey

Holy Crap was the my first thought, this thing is strong!
Victory Golden Monkey Triple Ale, from Victory Brewing Company, Downington, PA
9.5% alc./vol.

Never been a big fan of beers with a high alcohol content. Taste very wheaty/yeasty and I can barely taste any flavors because of the high alcohol taste. I think this would be a beer you would enjoy if you like Belgian beers, but I don’t, and I don’t even know if I will be able to finish this bottle. I am sad to say I can only give this 1 out of 5. I am sure it’s a great beer for the ones who knows better.

The bottle says;
A magical, mystical Monkey whose golden soul glows with the wisdom of ages. This warming, flavored ale is rich in the sprinted tradition of Belgian-inspired brewing. Our Golden Monkey is both playfully delightful and profoundly satisfying. Exotic spices from the East round out this global journey to joy. Get on board. This Monkey’s bound for glory!

Post It Show 8

We headed over to Sawtelle for some ramen, but we got there easy so we stopped by the GR2 and the Post It Show 8.

I am pretty sure this Mats dude is a Swede…

Dec 9th, Pilsner Urquell

I love when you open up a beer and you can see the smoke coming out of the bottle!

The beer of the day;
Pilsner Urquell from Plzen, Czech Republic. 4.4% Alc./Vol. Just like a regular pilsner, better for a hot summer day than a cold and dark winter day, 3 out of 5.

The bottle says;
For people over the age of 21 only.

Swedish Christmas Fair

I get as excited every year for the SWEA Christmas Fair at the Shrine in Downtown LA. It brings a little bit of the Scandinavian Christmas traditions to Los Angeles, and it seems like more and more people attend each year!
I honestly don’t care to much about the dancing, but I like their cloths, and it’s always nice to show my non Swedish friends what the traditional Swedish dance is all about.

I kind of forced my friends to get up there so I could take photos and laugh at them – it seemed like they had a good time though!

Aaah yes! The open face shrimp sandwich!

I love the Lucia! And now it was my friends turn to laugh at me as I was singing along to the tunes… They thought it was a little weird at first that I knew all the lyrics, but then I explained to them that Swedish kids don’t really have a choice but to learn these songs, and every little village in the country have their own Lucia on December 13th of each year.
