Disney’s WonderGround Gallery

Martin Hsu had a couple of pieces in the WonderGround Gallery in Downtown Disney. Today was the opening and artist signing.

Mickey’s Blossom of Dreams by Martin Hsu;

 Hipster Mickey by Jerrod Maruyama;

Mousetown by Sean D’Anconia;
After the art gallery we went to the ESPN bar to get a  beer and catch the second half of the Germany-Portugal football game.

I was super excited to go to the Lego store, I LOVE Lego!

They give you a jar and you can fill it up with a mix of your favorite Lego pieces, just like in a candy shop!

Who said Lego is just for kids? They also have the amazing architecture line!

When I was a kid, my older brother had a bunch of Technic Lego that I was never allowed to touch. But I sneaked into his room pretty much everyday after school before he came home and played with it anyway. Today I bought my own!

Unique LA

Unique LA is a design show created as a way to bring local-made design to the masses.

Martin was there so we stopped by his booth.

Accessories that probably only design geeks would wear.

I really like this; old beer bottles transformed into glasses!

They had a photo booth as well!

Los Angeles is pretty flat…

We stopped by Amoeba after the show, I found this album by Orup, a Swedish artist – I didn’t buy it though.

Downtown LA Art Walk & Art Battles

We took the Metro downtown to go to the Art Walk.

We only managed to stop by two galleries before we came across the Art Battle.

4 artists, 4 large blank canvases and 90 minutes.

I got a little bored in-between and stepped out for some fresh air, came back in just in time for the final touch ups.

Once the time was up, the crowd got to vote on which artist we liked the best and who got to represent LA/US in Amsterdam later this summer.
Dave Zeboski was the winner;

My Little Pony Project

I had a few My Little Pony’s when I was a kid, but I was never that attached to them, I think I had them just because my friend had some. But, My Little Pony Project came to town and Martin Hsu had styled a pony. Since we are his biggest fans, we had to go and check it out.
When we got there, there was a line around the corner just to get in. Luckily, we managed to get in without having to wait in line…

Expo Line

I spent the Saturday morning the way a Saturday morning should be spent; at the beach!
Today was the grand opening of the Metro Expo Line that runs between Culver City and Downtown Los Angeles. I am extremely excited about this and we took the metro downtown just to go to dinner, just because we can!

It feels like Los Angeles is growing up a little with the expansion of the Metro!

I’ve heard and read about this Banksy piece in blogs etc, but never seen it before. I just happen to come across it in Downtown LA today!

Comic Sans

I can live with this company not getting my name right, but from one designer to another; it’s not OK to use Comic Sans.

Dec 17th, Old Scratch Amber Lager

The beer of the day; Old Scratch Amber Lager from Flying Dog Brewery, Frederick, MF. Very nice beer, I like the slacker design on the label as well! If it has to be a lager, it should be an amber lager. 5 out of 5!

The label says;
Some itches can’t be scratched. Like your fantasy involving latex and flavored lotions. So it’s best to concentrate on the ones you can scratch. Like your itch for this Amber Lager with a malty, mellow flavor. As for your other fantasies, you’ll probably need to find a chat room for these.
