Halloween at LACMA

The pineapple I got earlier during the day turned out to come in handy, I used it as a re-fill throughout the night, very eco-friendly!

I had not planned to go to the LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art) Muse Costume Ball, but managed to score free tickets, and since there was an open mashed potatoes buffet, I thought why not?

It seems like every party in LA have a photo booth, I love it! Here’s me and my pineapple hanging out with some buddies.

Drink and Draw

We headed to Casey’s Irish Pub in downtown LA, there’s a Drink and Draw club that meets there every week. I am a pretty useless drawer, but it was still fun!

Sunday

Started off as a lazy Sunday, cooked breakfast and had friends over for Mimosas.

We were gonna have omelets, but it didnt turn out the way we wanted so we made fancy scrambled eggs instead.
After some chill at home we took off to the Getty Museum.
Ive never been a huge fan of the art at the Getty, not my cup of tea, but I would love to have one of these to lounge on in the living room!
The view from the Getty is stunning. It was a polluted LA today, but we could still see most of the city.

Book Signing with Martin Hsu

My friend Martin Hsu had a book signing for his latest book Multi Grain, we went to check it out.

A lot of people came out to meet the artist.
The book and a fan!

I got my book signed and doodled, got book no 17 out of 500.

Printing Party V3.0

We all got together for a printing party, exploring different techniques to print on different surfaces.

I worked on tote bags for a project I’ve been working on for a while now. I will hopefully get a website up for this project soon…

Photo Shoot

Martin Hsu was in need of new images for his website, he asked W to shoot them, whom asked us for help. We started off in Griffith Park for some green background shots.

This fella was joining us as well…
Trying to get the right light for the shots.
When we were done at the park we moved on to downtown LA and the Walt Disney Concert Hall, it’s an amazing building and photographers loves it.
Urban style
Yes, he is a tall guy and she is a small girl, but I think this might be a bit of an illusion.

Art On Trees

What would you do if you got a note that all the trees on your block will be removed due to a disease?

Well, this is what we would do… show up with paint and beers so they can go to tree heaven all nice and decorated!

They are cutting down the trees in sections, the ones with an orange dot were to be removed first.
A red apple is much more fun than an orange dot!

A monster is also way much more fun than an orange dot!
We started off in the afternoon and painted 4 trees before it got dark and we got tired.

Familiar Strangers

We went to the opening of an art show last night.

Yoskay Yamamoto had some cool stuff, but my favorites was Mikito Ozeki’s art that was hand cut paper.
We went to a comedy show after, which was all right, I didnt quite get all the jokes… On the way home we bumped in to a bunch of kids hanging out in a bike shop, having a good time. They had a bunch of beers and some live bands playing. It’s totally a movement I would have loved 10 years ago. Supercool, and the music was awesome.

Culver City Art Walk

Today was the Culver City Art walk. I stopped by a friends house before the walk, he rescued a couple of kittens a few weeks ago, they are super cute and needs a new home! The little girl has a damaged eye and might have to loose it.

Beers and BBQ before an art walk can never go wrong!
We made it to the art walk, but I am a little disappointed, the art was a lot better last year.

Artists are weird, they do a bunch of weird stuff. What is this and what does it mean?
