Ramundberget

I am stoked I am in Sweden in the middle of the semmel season, I get to eat one for breakfast!

Jumped in the car after breakfast and drove 20 minutes to Ramundberget. Why is it so cold in Sweden though?

The chefs made pizza for dinner. Amazing!

I’ve been in Sweden for how long now? And I’ve already had two pizzas and two semmels. I’m not sure how this gonna end…

Hemma hos Edith

Woke up bright and early and I had the privilege to help my friends out in their bakery before skiing.

The cafe is located just across the street from the ski lift. Super convenient, we could just walk over when we were ready to ski after breakfast.

The giant village of Funäsdalen!

Asher is getting ready for some epic turns, pretending he’s not cold at all.

It’s cold as hell and we’re slightly jet lagged so we headed back to the cafe for late lunch.

I used to be pretty damn good at baking, but it’s been a while. Veronica must have thought I did a good job in the morning thought cause I was allowed back in the afternoon.

Epic day!

Started the day off like all days are being started off in Mammoth, coffee and burrito.

We got a lot of new snow so we skied fresh tracks all day.

I have Asher as “My Driver” in my phonebook. He almost got fired today though when he didn’t clean the window and drove just using one hand while speaking on the phone.

Today’s beer. Beer number 14. Magic Hat Winter Mingle. Stout with vanilla. They could’ve left the vanilla out.

Thanksgiving

I love our annual Thanksgiving potluck. I learned a few years ago to stay the heck out of the kitchen.

No potluck is complete without some Chinese food.

I don’t really care about any other food when there’s mashed potatoes on the table.

Yakitori night

We had yakitori for dinner, basically stuff on a stick that you can put on a grill, Japanese style.

I brought paneer, because I love paneer!

Sriracha factory visit

It’s just a hot sauce to me but the Sriracha sauce has a cult following. Huy Fong Foods has free tours of their factory in Azusa east of Los Angeles, so you can see how it’s made.

The people living around the factory doesn’t like it so much because it polluts the air with spice and it makes your eyes dry up and sting. I could feel a little tickle as soon as I stepped out of the car, it was kind of a cool experience, but I can see how it gets old quick if you live around it.

We showed up at the factory and got seated in a big room in front of a small TV with crappy audio. It felt a bit like a fail, but the tour was free, so who am I to complain?

Soon a lady came around to showed us out to the shuttle and drive us around the factory. They had a lot of chillies.

As we walked through this room of crushed pepper I really had difficulties breathing, I don’t understand how the workers does it every day.

I love this kind of thing so much! I should probably work in a factory so I can watch things being made every day.

I didn’t know, but Huy Fong Foods are super cool and really eco friendly. They buy from local farms, makes everything in house (even the printing on the bottles) and try to reuse and recycle as much as possible. The wholesale price of the sauce has never changed either in 35 years!

Went for Hai Di Lao hot pot after, thought we should stock to the asian theme.

Takoyaki

We were making Takoyaki for dinner today.

I will tag this photo “multicultural female friends having a good time cooking in the kitchen, smiling, laughing” in my stock photo library.

Delicious little octopus balls!

French Concession

Amy was cooking dinner today so we stopped by the Avocado Lady for groceries. The Avocado Lady is apparently pretty famous among the expats in Shanghai and people come from all corners of the city with their shopping lists. I got excited over the store sign, don’t need to do more sightseeing today. I am easy to please.

I suggested Chicken Feet for dinner, didn’t get any positive feedback from the crew.

Every time I drive around Los Angeles on my dinged up scooter I am gonna remember this. I am not having it so bad after all.

I love these trees in the French Concession!

Still no chicken feet?

I wish I had the guts to eat from street vendors, but is it safe to do so in any country?

Birthday weekend

I’m lucky I was born in February so I can force my friends to go ski with me for my birthday weekend!
We are still waiting for the snow to arrive.

They made me a delicious cake!
