Sweden!

I made it all the way to Sweden and took the train to Katrineholm.
My mother and the kids picked me up at the train station. I was ready to start feasting on the Swedish delicatessen but the kids wanted to go to McDonalds… Yes, I traveled from America halfway around the world, and my first “meal” was at McDonalds!

But we went for ice cream after, that made me happy!

Our childhood friend has a catering business and my sister was there to help prepare the food for the wedding reception when I stopped by to surprise her!

They claimed to be working, but during the hour I was there, all they did was drinking coffee and chatting away. I did see they had prepared for the cake though… chocolate!
Rhubarb at my parents house! I wish I had rhubarb in my backyard as well.
Crayfish from the Swedish lakes for dinner, my favorite!

My Sister Got Married!

My sister got married in a small private ceremony in Southern Sweden today. I could not attend, but I could make her and her husband a cake and celebrate with our friends in LA! The decoration was inspired from yesterdays Panda Cake!

Oscars Party

The annual ABC Casa Oscars Party was today! I had heard Ikea is selling Semlor for the season, and I know it’s kind of late, but since I was in the neighborhood anyway I swung by to see if I could pick some up for the Oscars tonight. It turned out they looked incredible sad, but I really wanted one so I bought some anyways.
So when I came home I took off to the store and got some whipping cream and gave semlorna a facelift, now they looked yum, and it was a success at the party!

We had an Oscars Pool, guess all the winners – participants had to leave $5 in the hat.

Whitey was the guest of honor…

and he did a great job walking around to say hi to everyone and leave some trace of his fur on the guests cloths.

Cake

It’s Leila’s birthday, so I made her a cake. Happy Birthday!

Sunday Food

I wasn’t craving potatoes or anything, but I still decided to make potato chips – it’s super easy, just slice the potato in thing slices, put it in the owen with olive oil and herbs/spices until they get colorful. I read it works without the oil as well, gonna have to try that next time!

I had to balance the unhealthy with something health; freshly pressed carrot and apple juice, very awesome!
