The label says:
Grimbergen Abbey Ale was first brewed as far back as the early middle ages by Norbertine monks. The recipe for this outstanding abbey ale has been carefully guarded throughout the centuries by the monks of the Abbey of Grimbergen. Their beautiful monastery with it’s phoenix stained glass windows lies just north of Brussels.
The tradition of ale brewing by monks originates from the former role of abbeys as inns for pilgrims.
Grimbergen Double is a rich, dark burgundy ale with a white head. Double has undergone two fermentations, which gives this ale a chocolaty, toffee taste with a brandy- like finish.
To enjoy this abbey ale at its best, drink it from its original chalice glass to keep the rich flavours. Serve between 45F – 55F.

Dec 10, Out Of Bounds Stout
What, Seriously? Hells Yeah! I already knew it was gonna be a 5 out of 5 when I unwrapped this and saw the label…
Out Of Bounds Stout from Avery Brewing Co, Boulder, Colorado. 6.3% alc/vol. How could you possibly go wrong?
It is really an amazing stout too, not just the name and label, the taste was awesome as well! Like a really good dark and smooth chocolate, you don’t need a whole lot, one bottle and you’ll be satisfied, but you never actually want it to end. There’s no way you can top this, everything about this makes me extremely happy. It’s a 5+ out of 5! The first 5+ in 8 years!
The label says;
Experts only ♦ ♦
This big, roasty stout takes flavor to the extreme. We aren’t afraid to use a ton of roasted barley and a mountain of hops to give this full-bodied stout that little extra something you’ve been looking fo.
Brewed with Rocky Mountain water, malted barley, hops, and yeast.
On a side note, someone marked this ABS on the wrap, what does that mean?
Oh yeah, totally watching the Swedish broadcasting of Serious Request. Love it!
Dec 25th, Winter Welcome Ale
The beer for today was
2012-2013 Winter Welcome Ale from Samuel Smith Old Brewery, Tadcaster, Yorkshire, England.
6% Alc./Vol.
I have had a taste of this brew from last years edition, and thought it was good, but I don’t remember it being this good! They did a good job this year, 5 out of 5!
The label says;
This seasonal beer is a limited edition brewed for the short days and long nights of winter. The full body resulting from fermentation in ‘stone Yorkshire squares’ and the luxurious malt character, which will appeal to a broad range of drinkers, is balanced against whole-dried Fuggle and Golding hops with nuances and complexities that should be contemplated before an open fire.
Samuel Smith’s brews at a small traditional British brewery, the oldest brewery in Yorkshire.
Dec 24th, Bad Elf Winter’s Ale
Yes, this is how I like my beer!

I did not know what to expect from this, but it was excellent! A little citrus flavor to it. 5 out of 5!
The label says;
‘Tis a heavy hand what adds the hops to this festive golden ale. Truth be told, there’s near to three pounds of fresh hops goes in every barrel of this treasures brew. Pull up a sturdy chair, let’s fill up yer best flagon with season’s finest natural ale, and I’ll tell you a dark tale of elf and woe. ‘Ere’s to your elf!

Dec 7th, KBC Porter
The beer for today; Kennebunkport Brewing Co. Porter, from Portland, Maine.
Dec 5th, Prohibition Ale
Today is Repeal Day, it was on this day, December 5th 1933, when the government allowed the use of alcohol again after 14 years of misery and banning of alcohol.
How appropriate that I got the Prohibition Ale from Speakeasy Ales & Lagers, San Francisco, CA as my advent beer today!
Aaah yes! was the words hat came out of my mouth as I had my first taste, just how I want my beer!
I have had this beer many times before and have a feeling I will have it many times again. One of my faves, definitely a 5 out of 5!
Wow, we are doing o good with the beers so far for this years calendar!
The label says;
Sssshhh! During prohibition, the masses were forced underground into the speakeasy. Hidden within streets of the city, friends gathered where music played and drinks were poured…
Prohibition Ale is a boldly, hopped amber ale that strikes a perfect balance between caramel maltiness and its aggressive hopping.
