Dec 2nd, La Rossa Birra Moretti Ale

Italy is not really famous for their beers, they are more into their wine I guess, but this beer; La Rossa  Birra Moretti ale, brewed by Heineken Italia, Italy was good for being Italian. It had not a lot of flavor and a little fizzy, but I expected a lot worst. 3 out of 5.

The bottle says:
Qualita E Tradizione

Dec 23rd, Santa’s Private Reserve Ale

I am a huge fan of Rouge so I was happy to unwrap the Santa’s Private Reserve Ale from Rouge Ales, Newport, OR. And it bothers me a little that I only give this one 4 out of 5. I think I had really high expectations. It is a really really really good beer, but taken it is Rouge and a special edition beer, I wanted something extra. It felt a little like this could have been any other of their excellent ales, just packaged in a different bottle. Still an awesome beer that I would drink any day, but I wanted a little more!

The label says;
Reddish-copper color with a roasty, malt flavor and a well balanced, sprucy finish.

Dec 21st, Christmas Ale

Anchor, another well known and favorite! Excited to try their holiday beer;  Christmas Ale from Anchor Brewing Company, San Francisco, CA, 5 out of 5!

The label says;
This is the thirty-seventh “Our Special Ale” from the brewers at Anchor. It is s old only from early November to mid-January. Since ancient times, trees have symbolized the winter solstice when the earth, with its seasons, appears born anew.

Dec 20th, Ellie’s Brown Ale

I thought this label was super cheesy and I dont like the logo, but the beer was OK. Ellie’s Brown Ale from Avery Brewing Company in Boulder, CO. 4 out of 5.

The label says;
Named after our beloved chocolate lab, this beautiful, deep russet brew is dominated by a chocolate and brown sugar maltiness with hints of vanilla and nuts, producing a very smooth, well balanced and quaffable brown ale.
Brewed with Rocky Mountain water, malted barley, hops, and yeast.

Dec 19th, Snow Day Winter Ale

Beer of the day; Snow Day Winter Ale from New Belgium Brewing in Fort Collins, CO. I am very familiar with New Belgiums’ Fat Tire Amber Ale, but it’s the first time I’m having their Winter Ale; very good, 5 out of 5!

The label says;
With 3 feet of powder closing the roads, a brewery is not a bad place to get snowed in, Given the unanticipated hall pass of a snow day, our brewers decided to experiment. Hmm… what about this dark caramel roasted Midnight Wheat braced with a serious load of Syrian Goldings, Centennial and Cascade hops? Shovel it in. What a deliciously unexpected way to spend a SNOW DAY!

Dec 16th, Liberty Ale

Beer of the day was Libert Ale from Anchor Brewing Company from San Francisco, CA. Anchor was one of the first craft beer breweries in California, and I’ve always liked their beer. I give this one a 5 out of 5!

The label says;
San Francisco’s famous Liberty Ale was first brewed on the 18th of April, 1975 to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Paul Revere’s historic ride. It is virtually handmade by the brewers of Anchor Steam Beer in one of the smallest and most traditional breweries in the world. Liberty Ale is made with the finest barley malt; fresh, whole hops; top-fermenting yeast; pure water; and simple, natural methods that reflect our exceptional respect for the ancient art of brewing. It is “dry hopped,” a classic ale tradition, and slowly completes its fermentation in sealed vats in our cellars. This unique process creates Liberty Ale’s distinctive bouquet and uncommonly delicate, entirely natural carbonation.

Dec 14th, Abita Turbodog

I’ve seen this beer around a lot, but I dont know if I ever have had it. Turbodog Ale from Abita Brewing Company, Abita Springs, LA. It’s a really good beer, but it didnt blow me away. I give it 4 out of 5.

The label says;

Every Abita brew is all natural and handcrafted using the pristine artesian water of Abita Springs, Louisiana that is naturally perfect for brewing.

Dec 13th, He’Brew Messiah Bold

I know I’ve had a He’Brew beer before, but not sure which one. Today’s beer was He’Brew Messiah Bold Dark Brown Ale from Shmaltz Brewing Company, Saratoga Springs, NY. It was great, super easy to drink! 5 out of 5!

Dec 11th, Sierra Nevada Celebration

I was almost gonna skip the beer today and have two beers tomorrow instead, but then I changed my mind. I got the 2011 Celebration Fresh Hop Ale from Sierra Nevada Brewing Company in Chico, CA.
A very good beer after a long weekend, 4 out of 5!

The label says;

Dec 8th, Winter Solstice Seasonal Ale

You rarely drink beer out of a can nowadays, it seems like most of the good beers only gets served in a bottle. The Winter Solstice Seasonal Ale from Anderson Valley Brewing Company, Boonville, CA, was kind of blah as well. I am not very impressed. Bitter but also a wheaty taste. It feels like it’s missing something, it’s a little blend. Another 2 out of 5.

The label says;
Ale with natural flavor added
