Packing

I’m flying off to Chile tomorrow and I’ve been panicking a little over the last couple of days because I have not had much time to do my packing.

Traveling is fun, but packing is boring. Let’s have a beer instead!

Dec 25th, Double Wide IPA

I am little bummed the beer calendar is over, but it’s just 11 months until the next one starts!

Double-Wide India Pale Ale from Boulevard Brewing Company, Kansas City, Missouri. 8.5 alc/vol. A 5 out of 5!

The label says:
The classic India Pale Ale is a traveler’s beer, aggressively hopped to withstand the long, hot ocean voyage to the British West Indies. Our Double-Wide IPA, on the other hand, is more at home on the amber waves of the American Plains. While this modern day prairie schooner may not resemble a graceful sailing sloop, ur liberal hopping regiment does make her virtually “twister-proof”. Keep some on the cellar to enjoy while waiting for the al clear to sound.

Dec 21st, Peak Organic IPA

This beer looks kind of cheap. India Pale Ale from Peak Organic Brewing Company, Portland, Maine. 7.1% Alc/Vol. A 3 out of 5, pretty low for being an IPA.

The label says;
Pure ingredients, delicious beer.

Coachella Day 2

Camping out in the desert means two things; you are not gonna be cold and you will wake up early!

Since I’d already been up for several hours at 10:30am, I think it is ok to have a beer before noon.

The campsite is so clean and structured, all in tidy rows!

Major Lazer was amazing! Everyone was crazy and took their shirts off halfway through the set!

Qibao Water Town

We took a trip out to Qibao today, a cute water town – like Venice but different!

We got to see the sun today, a good day to do your laundry!

It wasn’t just us there.

Stinky Tofu! Tempting to try, but I stayed away.

Some other food that was not as tempting;

We had lunch at the Shanghai Brewery, finally an IPA!

Classic mom & dad photo; mom is lecturing dad, dad is pretending to listen.

A quick nap in the car over the river, and we were in Pudong.

Mt Baldy

Mt Baldy is just some 90 minute drive from my place and I found a cheap Groupon for half off on lift tickets so I thought it was totally worth checking out.

I got a lot of nostalgia feelings and starting to think of the small club fields in New Zealand when we got there as it was super tiny with old lifts and portable toilets.

Skiing was not awesome, but I get excited just if I get to touch the snow and breed the fresh air, and I fell in love with Mt Baldy, will have to come back here again and again! 90 minutes from my door, how awesome!

Off to Denver, Colorado

With a few days off for Christmas and nothing to do I thought a last minute quick trip to Colorado would do me good!
With my usual luck, the flight was delayed – which gave me time for a couple of IPA’s.

Airports at Christmastime is always fun!

Dec 20th, Inversion IPA

Ah, just as I was complaining over not having enough IPA’s in the calendar this year, BOOM! There it is! Just one sip and I was in heaven! 5 out of 5, no question about it!
Deschutes has always been one of my faves as well!

Inversion IPA from Deschutes Brewery, Bend, Oregon
6.8% Alc./Vol

The label says;
Paradise is stumbling upon our whole flower hop room and inhaling. Inversion is as close as you can get without knowing somebody.
We worship the flower. The hop flower, that is. We know you do too. Inversion is our tribute to that flower, with plenty of balance, finesse and personality to feed the hop lover in us all.
Crafted for explorers everywhere since 1988.

Sunday Brunch

Sunday birthday brunch is always good, after a Halloween party, it might be even better! Someone ordered a kick-ass Bloody Mary – I ordered an IPA.
I am starting to like Egg Benedict more and more, though I still could do without the English Muffin.

Dec 12th, Alimony Ale IPA

Super happy to unwrap the Alimony Ale India Pale Ale from Buffalo Bill’s Brewery in Hayward, CA
I’m a big fan of IPA’s, it’s a little sweeter and more fresh then a regular ale and is awesome for hot LA days! It’s rainy today, but an IPA always works! This one was great and it went down fast. 5 out of 5!

The label says;
Good beer, like true love, doesn’t last long. Enjoy it while it lasts.
Alimony Ale, Its Irreconcilably Different
