June Mountain

We headed over to June Mountain today, it’s about 20 minutes away but still on the same lift ticket. I’ve never skied there before so I was excited. The weather wasn’t really co operating so I thought it would be a short day.

I fell in love with this mountain as soon as we pulled up, I love these little club filed type of mountains, reminds me of Sweden.

We did a few runs, it was super nice but extremely cold so we headed to the lodge to warm up a bit and when we got back out it was blue skies!

Mt Wood, we should hike up and ski this one day!

Empty mountain, blue skies, perfectly groomed slopes and lots of fresh snow in the trees, a perfect day!

A tree stood in my way so we took it easy in the groomed the last few runs.

The truck is being a bad ass.

The drive home was beautiful.

I was disappointed in today’s beer, I really thought I was gonna get a good one today. Tap Room Copper Lager with added honey. What’s up with all these added sweetnesses it’s gross! Let the beer be beer. Asher suggested I’d have a Bud Light instead.

Ski Big Bear

I worked from the ski lift today.

I got a bear hug!

We decided to ski Snow Summit after lunch.

Got home and had beer number 9 and watched the Swedish Advent Calendar on TV.

Dec 19th, California Lager

Todays beer was California Lager from Anchor Brewing Co, San Francisco, California. Another strong 4 out of 5!

The label says:
Anchor Steams roots go back to the Gold Rush, long before icehouses and modern refrigeration made traditional lagers a viable California option. In 1876, thanks to an ice pond in the mountains and a belief that anything is possible in the Golden State, a little brewery named Boca created California’s first genuine lager. Anchor California Lager is our re-creation of this historic beer.
Made in San Francisco with two-row California barley, Cluster hops (the premier hop in the 19th century California), and our own lager yeast, this all-malt brew is krausened and lagered in our cellars. Its golden color, distinctive aroma, creamy head, balanced depth of flavor, and smooth finish make Anchor California Lager a delicious celebration of California’s unique brewing heritage.

Dec 3rd, Wild Blue

I got a bad feeling about this one as soon as I unwrapped it. The fact that it was a twist off did not help either. But then when I open it I could already smell the blueberry and thought “maybe this will be pretty cool after all”. I was wrong.
My thought as I had the first sip: Holy shit… who makes this thing? I wonder if I can even finish it. This is clearly a 1 out of 5.
The foam was all purple, but it all went flat super quick before I had chance to take a photo of it.

Wild Blue Premium Blueberry Lager from Blue Dawg Brewing, St Louis, Missouri. 8% alc/vol.

The label says:
Premium lager with natural flavors and color from juice.

I didn’t finish it.

Becks

I love it when friends come by and drop off a case of beer for no apparent reason!

Dec 16th, Czechvar

As I open todays beer I could smell the lager flavor and it reminded me of the beers my grandparents used to drink.

Czechvar Premium Czech Lager, from the Brewery B.B.N.P in Czech Republic
5% Alc./Vol.
I’m not a big fan, it’s just a bunch of bubbles to me.
I have to give it 3 out of 5, it’s not terrible, but drinkable.

The label says;
Czechvar is the special name of the world famous beer produced by the renowned brewery in Ceske Budejovice, Czech Republic. Benefiting from over 700 years of brewing experience of the South Bohemian region, Czechvar is the golden original, acknowledged by many connoisseurs as one of the best lagers in the world.

Dec 15th, Minott’s Black Star Double Hopped Golden Lager

Today I got Minott’s Black Star Double Hopped Golden Lager from Great Northern Brewing Company, Whitefish, Montana. I rarely drink lagers nowadays, but this one is pretty good. I give it a 3 out of 5.

The bottle says;
Black Star Double Hopped Golden Lager is hopped first in the kettle and then again before finishing. Result? A refreshing beer with lots of taste. We hope you enjoy drinking it as much as we enjoy making it.

Dec 6th, Red Horse Beer

Beer of the day was Red Horse Beer, a lager from San Miguel Brewery in Philippines. Very fuzzy with a strong alcohol taste, makes me burp a lot. I’ll give it 2 out of 5.

The label says;
Experience that distinctive full-flavored taste of a world-class premium beer.
