Coachella Day 2

Camping out in the desert means two things; you are not gonna be cold and you will wake up early!

Since I’d already been up for several hours at 10:30am, I think it is ok to have a beer before noon.

The campsite is so clean and structured, all in tidy rows!

Major Lazer was amazing! Everyone was crazy and took their shirts off halfway through the set!

Hiking Will Roger’s

I have not been hiking in a long time, and what’s a better way to beat a jet lag then to go hiking?

Clouds look a little angry, but we were spared from rain.

The post hike beer and burger at City Tavern was awesome!

Last Day in Shanghai

Last day in Shanghai was mostly just involving beers, but we did go to get our nails done before starting drinking.
Love the color!

Mmmkay… I wasn’t gonna…

Qibao Water Town

We took a trip out to Qibao today, a cute water town – like Venice but different!

We got to see the sun today, a good day to do your laundry!

It wasn’t just us there.

Stinky Tofu! Tempting to try, but I stayed away.

Some other food that was not as tempting;

We had lunch at the Shanghai Brewery, finally an IPA!

Classic mom & dad photo; mom is lecturing dad, dad is pretending to listen.

A quick nap in the car over the river, and we were in Pudong.

Shanghai Natural History Museum

The Shanghai Natural History Museum is very awesome and creepy at the same time! Totally worth a visit!

Taiwanese lunch!

Time for a visit to the insect market after lunch, also creepy and awesome at the same time and totally worth a visit!

The sun was still nowhere to be found, but the laundry racks were still visible. On a sunny day all these racks would be full of laundry.

Tons of these bicyclist around the city and I’ve been trying to catch one on camera. One finally came up close and I totally panic and couldn’t get the setting on the camera correct.

Australian food for dinner!
Fresh pineapple from a street vendor as dessert!

The Shanghai Museum

Today was culture day, we started of at the Shanghai Museum, the museum of ancient Chinese art.

A very old gem. I don’t think I can wrap my head around how old this is. 6000 BC!

Old Chinese money;

Yep, this is a pillow! Tired anyone?

After the Shanghai Museum, we headed over to the Shanghai Sculpture Space. Very cool and artsy, probably where I would spend a lot of time if I lived in Shanghai.

We went to Tianzifang for lunch, small shops in cute alleys.

Mmm, beer lunch!

We popped our heads into Candy Lab. Very cool culinary art, but oh so sweet! Pretty much just sugar, not very tasty.

We went for a stroll along the Bund after lunch.

The view of Pudong;

Spicy Chinese food for dinner!

Poker night with the parents!

Off to Shanghai!

I haven’t had a good vacation in quite some time and I’m excited to go to Shanghai today!
But first, the mandatory beer at LAX before take-off.

Becks

I love it when friends come by and drop off a case of beer for no apparent reason!

Mt Baldy

Mt Baldy is just some 90 minute drive from my place and I found a cheap Groupon for half off on lift tickets so I thought it was totally worth checking out.

I got a lot of nostalgia feelings and starting to think of the small club fields in New Zealand when we got there as it was super tiny with old lifts and portable toilets.

Skiing was not awesome, but I get excited just if I get to touch the snow and breed the fresh air, and I fell in love with Mt Baldy, will have to come back here again and again! 90 minutes from my door, how awesome!

Valentines Day

I was out having a couple of beers on Valentines Day and came home to a drunk and upset Bjorn
