June Mountain

We headed over to June Mountain today, it’s about 20 minutes away but still on the same lift ticket. I’ve never skied there before so I was excited. The weather wasn’t really co operating so I thought it would be a short day.

I fell in love with this mountain as soon as we pulled up, I love these little club filed type of mountains, reminds me of Sweden.

We did a few runs, it was super nice but extremely cold so we headed to the lodge to warm up a bit and when we got back out it was blue skies!

Mt Wood, we should hike up and ski this one day!

Empty mountain, blue skies, perfectly groomed slopes and lots of fresh snow in the trees, a perfect day!

A tree stood in my way so we took it easy in the groomed the last few runs.

The truck is being a bad ass.

The drive home was beautiful.

I was disappointed in today’s beer, I really thought I was gonna get a good one today. Tap Room Copper Lager with added honey. What’s up with all these added sweetnesses it’s gross! Let the beer be beer. Asher suggested I’d have a Bud Light instead.

Epic day!

Started the day off like all days are being started off in Mammoth, coffee and burrito.

We got a lot of new snow so we skied fresh tracks all day.

I have Asher as “My Driver” in my phonebook. He almost got fired today though when he didn’t clean the window and drove just using one hand while speaking on the phone.

Today’s beer. Beer number 14. Magic Hat Winter Mingle. Stout with vanilla. They could’ve left the vanilla out.

Mammoth Bound

I was a little tired waking up at 4:30 am to drive up to Mammoth after the whiskey tasting last night, but it’s well worth it.

I’m so used to driving up to Mammoth at night so I forget how beautiful it is.

We got there and it was a little cold and overcast.

Still happy to be skiing though.

We skied for a couple of hours before it started hailing on us and it felt like needles were hitting our face so we gave up.

Headed down to the supermarket to stock up on beers and ice cream when the whole town got shut out of power. No power inside but lots of powder outside.

Had beer number 12 in the beer calendar, Ballast Point Wheat beer. I didn’t like it, didn’t finish it.

Since I was one day behind, I had beer number 13 as well. Another Ballast Point, Pale Ale this time and much better!

Cooled down our beers outside today!

Beer 11 and Jack Daniel’s Sinatra Century

I thought this beer would be kind of fun, like a Corona but with a little heat to it. It wasn’t very fun. It was more like drinking a spicy Bloody Mary that’s topped off with some vinegar. I could not finish this one.

Got all dressed up and headed for whiskey tasting instead.

I didn’t know exactly what I was up for, but it turned out the event was really fun. Celebrating Frank Sinatra’s 100th birthday with Jack Daniel’s, his favorite drink.

Ski Big Bear

I worked from the ski lift today.

I got a bear hug!

We decided to ski Snow Summit after lunch.

Got home and had beer number 9 and watched the Swedish Advent Calendar on TV.

Baldwin Hills and beer number 6

Trying to get to the top of the hill before the sun sets. You get pretty awesome views over Los Angeles from here.

I am one day behind in my beer calendar, not to bad compared to last year. Got Magic Hat Snow Roller Hoppy Brown Ale.

There’s a message in the cap!

Ski day 3 and beer number 5

Another day of awesomeness!

We went to the store to grab beers after a full day of skiing. Apparently we had to get these 32 fl oz of  Miller High Life because that’s the “Champagne of beers”. I wanted to take a photo to show how large the bottle was but that totally backfired on me because Jessie is a giant!

I got to drink my calendar beer before moving on to the “champagne”. Ballast Point Sculpin IPA. I like it!
