Dec 16th, Chocolate Stout

I can see a new trend in organic beers, that’s cool!

Organic Chocolate Stout from Bison Brewing, Ukiah, CA. 5% alc/vol.
This is a really good beer, I can taste a little smoked flavor which is always welcomed! 4 out of 5!

The label says:

Stout brewed with Peruvian Cocoa.
One need not sacrifice the pleasure of everyday living to be green.
In the ancien Aztec kingdom, cocoa beans were considered so precious that they were used as money. On special occasions, Montezuma himself served his palace guests chocolate in goblets of beaten gold. Cheers, Dan

Dec 15th, Coconut Porter

A canned beer! I haven’t had much luck with the fruity beers so far so I was a little hesitant at first…

Coconut Porter from Maui Brewing Company, Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii. 6% alc/vol. A porter brewed with hand-toasted coconut.
It’s an OK beer, nothing to write home about. I can’t taste the coconut at all. A 3 out of 5.

The can says:
Why Cans???

Dec 7th, KBC Porter

The beer for today; Kennebunkport Brewing Co. Porter, from Portland, Maine.

5.6% Alc./Vol.
Another twist off cap – whats up with twist off caps?
Anyway, I poured it and had a sip and mmm, it’s good! I dont drink a lot of porter, but maybe I should start this one is really good! Lots of flavors with a burnt aftertaste. I love that burnt aftertaste!
I give this a 5 out of 5, will definitely have again!

Dec 3rd, Pipeline Porter

Today’s beer; Aloha Series Pipeline Porter with 100% Hawaiian Kona Coffee, from Kona Brewing Co. Kona, Hawaii.

Since I just recently started to enjoy drinking coffee, I was looking forward to this beer. It was a good beer over all and I give it 4 out of 5, but I wish it had a tad bit more of the coffee flavor, I could barley taste it. It is a good idea though, mixing beer with coffee, I am all for it!

The bottle says;
Pipeline Porter is full bodied with a rich, smooth, dark-roastes malt flavor. A selection of premium hops and 100% Hawaiian Kona coffee complete this limited brew.
Since 1994, Kona Brewing Co. has been committed to making handcrafted ales and lagers of uncompromised quality. We invite you to visit our brewery and pubs whenever you visit Hawaii. Mahalo!

Oktoberfest

It’s already the end of October and we have not had a chance to go to any Oktoberfest parties this year, so we had our own beer tasting party. We picked up a few different kind of beers that we all could share.
Started with a smoked porter from my favorite Stone Brewery.
Starting off with a smoked porter might not be the best choice, as it is pretty dark with a lot of flavors. We moved on to Fullers Organic Honey Dew and I think we’re gonna have to give this beer a second chance as it dint taste much right after the porter.

I’ve seen the Ninkasi beers on the selves for a while now, and I think I’m gonna have to try them all.

I think Rouge might be my second favorite brewery after Stone.

Finishing off with a bang!
