A Year Older

Well, almost. Birthdays are a big deal at work. Since my birthday is on a Saturday this year and I thought I had gotten rid of all the evidence that I have an upcoming birthday, I thought I would get away with it this year. But my boss must have put it in her calendar with all sorts of alerts.

Yay for chocolate cakes!

Family is Here!

I have been pretty excited about this day for quite some time! My brother and his family is finally here! They brought a suitcase full of goodies for me, I think I am set for the rest of this year.

It took about 3 seconds for the kids to create a storm and find the computer. Björn got the best seat in the house.

Dec 16th, Chocolate Stout

I can see a new trend in organic beers, that’s cool!

Organic Chocolate Stout from Bison Brewing, Ukiah, CA. 5% alc/vol.
This is a really good beer, I can taste a little smoked flavor which is always welcomed! 4 out of 5!

The label says:

Stout brewed with Peruvian Cocoa.
One need not sacrifice the pleasure of everyday living to be green.
In the ancien Aztec kingdom, cocoa beans were considered so precious that they were used as money. On special occasions, Montezuma himself served his palace guests chocolate in goblets of beaten gold. Cheers, Dan

Marzipan Loafs

The whole month of December means Christmas for me, it’s only 3 weeks left and I am so excited! The preps continued today with the making of the marzipan loafs.

Polly

I made it to Shanghai without any major disruptions and was greeted by friends and parents with a big box of Polly! How awesome!

My Birthday!

I am usually never that excited for my birthday, but birthdays is a big deal at work so I think I was a little more excited than usual! I got an awesome cake, and then even spelled my name correct!

I always complain at work that my feet are cold – or I dont complain that much, but I always take my shoes off and bring my feet up on the chair because my toes are cold. My co-worker picked up on it and gave me a pair of socks! How awesome!

A bunch of us went Guinness tasting, I believe strongly that they still don’t know how to pour a good pint of Guinness in LA, but was ready to be proven wrong. Yet again, I was disappointed though.

It was still a fun event, but I didn’t learn much, and I think it could have been better organized – but who says no to free beers?

We went to have a few more beers after the tasting and I got another cake! I think most of my surroundings have figured out that I am crazy about chocolate.

Birthday girl!

A Whole Bag of Polly

My auntie is visiting my cousin in San Diego, I went down there for the weekend to see them. They had brought me a whole bag of Polly from Sweden, I LOVE POLLY!

Sweden!

I made it all the way to Sweden and took the train to Katrineholm.
My mother and the kids picked me up at the train station. I was ready to start feasting on the Swedish delicatessen but the kids wanted to go to McDonalds… Yes, I traveled from America halfway around the world, and my first “meal” was at McDonalds!

But we went for ice cream after, that made me happy!

Our childhood friend has a catering business and my sister was there to help prepare the food for the wedding reception when I stopped by to surprise her!

They claimed to be working, but during the hour I was there, all they did was drinking coffee and chatting away. I did see they had prepared for the cake though… chocolate!
Rhubarb at my parents house! I wish I had rhubarb in my backyard as well.
Crayfish from the Swedish lakes for dinner, my favorite!

My Sister Got Married!

My sister got married in a small private ceremony in Southern Sweden today. I could not attend, but I could make her and her husband a cake and celebrate with our friends in LA! The decoration was inspired from yesterdays Panda Cake!
