Putting

With the new golf app in one hand and the newly discovered putting technique in the other, I was excited to golfing today. I totally sucked. Maybe I should have a drink before going golfing instead of after, to make me more relaxed.

Rancho Park

The little golf adventure up in Mammoth was fun, but I was really glad to be back at Rancho Park where I am comfortable. I never thought I would like golfing this much! I made progress in my putting technique at the last two holes so now I feel like I have a better understanding on what to do.
I’m still super inconsistent, and there’s always a bunch of trees in my way, but it feels like I almost have it and I learn something new every time.
We found an app that keep track of scores and performances during our After Golf Beer, so now I wanna go back and try it out!

I’ve made the Surf Donkey my golfing hat.

Dockweiler Beach

There’s only two beaches in Los Angeles where you can have bonfires, Dockweiler is one of them. Friends “had some stuff to burn” and I was already in El Segundo, so I stopped by.
I got served Bud Light in a used 7/11 coffee cup, very classy!

Another Southern California sunset, this reminded me that I should spend more time on the beach.

Stacking 4 shipping pallets on the fire. Worst idea ever! It got a little warm.

Walk Home

My 45 minute walk home from work is super uninspiring. It’s actually a pretty dodgy 2.5 mile stretch with a filthy street and closed businesses. The comic part is that it is connecting two really nice places – Beverly Hills and Culver City.
You would think the city would put some money into this neighborhood and make it bloom. I spoke to the Treasurer of the neighborhood council of this area and he said the residents along this stretch like to go to Beverly Hills and do their shopping rather than hanging out in their own neighborhood. That’s sad!
I think they should clean it up, put in some nice businesses and market it well so I get a nicer walk home!
This little gopher greets me everyday though, it makes me giggle!

Flat Tire

I was gonna go for a bike ride today, but when I hauled out my bike I discovered I had a flat. It was pretty severe and a pump wouldn’t do the job.

I was a little bummed because I was really looking forward to the bike ride, but we drove over to Copenhagen Bakery instead that was celebrating their two years anniversary by giving out free breakfast, so delicious!

Ended the day by hiking up the stairs while the shop were working on my bicycle. Being all healthy!

Eat See Hear

We used to go to the Cinespia movie screenings at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery all the time, but it was a little inconvenient with parking and to get there, plus it was super popular so it was never a guarantee that you would actually get in if you didn’t stay in line for hours in advance.
Thankfully, a bunch of other organisations picked up on that and started to do their own outdoor movie screenings.
Eat See Hear put on Rushmore tonight.
It’s been a busy day, so we were just happy to lay down for a minute.

A bunch of food trucks were there, and good ones! There’s usually a handful of trucks and nothing that seems very appealing to me, but this time I had a hard time deciding. Did the default Main Lobster though, you can never go wrong with them!

I stayed awake through the whole movie!

Happy Sweden Day

It’s the National Day of Sweden today. I am not entirely sure what Sweden is celebrating, but you are supposed to eat strawberries and appreciate the Swedish flag. I celebrated with a killer breakfast!

The New Board

Palms Neighborhood Council was seating the new board tonight. First off, saying good bye to the old one.

Then swearing the oath and welcome the new board. Happy to see a younger board with fresh thoughts, but definitely not enough girls. Let’s fix that for 2016.

I left my election report. Probably my worst report so far as I can not speak in front of 5 or more people at once, specially when it’s a bunch of new people that don’t know me.
After I left my report, I felt really intimidated and my confident was down the drain and I was thinking I should probably work on my public speaking skills. But do I really need to? I actually have no desire of doing speeches in front of a public, I like sitting in the background and I think I can do a better job if I am left in a dark room where I don’t have to speak to anyone. But yeah, you have to get out of your comfort zone every now and then to grow as a person.
I also think that if I were to speak about something that I had more experience in, like how to bake a bread loaf, how to tame a young horse or how to build a website, I would do a better job.
Teaching people stuff – fairly good at. Report back and re-tell stories – very bad at.

Golfing Progress

It’s been a while since last time so I thought I would totally suck today. But I think the pep-talk last time that I shouldn’t take it so serious, combined with the little break really did me good. Started off on the range and I hit pretty consistent.

Did good on the course up until the two last holes. I got totally robbed on the 8th hole as that’s a very unfair hole for the lefties. A bunch of trees in the way that wouldn’t be in the way if I were to play righty.
“If you hit those branches a few more times you’re gonna trim them down and they will be out of your way next time, plus all the lefties will love you” was the encourage I got. I’m working on that.

One the last hole I got nervous and lost focus. The last couple of times I’ve hit the sand on this hole. I didn’t today, but I was really all over the place.
I have to practice my chipping and putting as that’s were I am struggling now. I should also get a bag to carry my three clubs.
