It is COLD!

It has been really cold the last couple of days. I usually dont mind the cold, when it is proper cold and you can go inside to heat up. LA is not built for the cold, and isolation is next to none, so when it’s cold outside, it is also cold inside…
It is proper cold, colder in Los Angeles than in London!

Here’s a screenshot in Celsius as well.

Swedish Christmas Fair

Today was the yearly Swedish Chrstmas fair at the Shrine, Downtown Los Angeles. One of my favorite events in LA!

Lots of crafts, gnomes and Santas!

My first Semla in almost 4 years! I havn’t bought them at previous years fairs because the first year I was afraid the whipped cream would be fake whipped cream. Last year I had the same concerns and thought I could wait until I’d go to Sweden for Christmas. It turned out the cafe’s in my hometown had still not started making them when I was there for Christmas, so I was left without. This year, knowing I might run the risk of not getting one in Sweden, I could not resist getting one at the fair.

The whipped cream was real, yay! I got flashbacks to -06, eating a Semla and drinking hot chocolate while watching the winter Olympics before starting the 2 hour evening shift at the bakery.

We bumped into what I believe was one of our previous kings.

Shopping Mall

I was in the hunt for Christmas gifts today.

It is usually fairly easy for me to pick up gifts for the kids, bit this year their wish list contained “anything a kid might like”. Toy stores are fun though, I always find stuff that I want for myself!

Since I’m only taking one class next quarter, I will hopefully have some time to do slackers things again, so I picked up this video game for myself.

Mongolian BBQ for lunch.

I am one of those rare girls that don’t like shopping. I think this was the first time ever that I spent a whole day at the mall. It is so loud and so crowded!

I always check out the California Baby section whenever I am at a Target or Whole Foods, I don’t know if this is a good or a bad sight… totally sold out!

Roller Skate Disco

We went to a roller skate disco last night. I had never roller skated before, but I used to be a decent ice skater.
My friends were inspired by the Godfather at dinner

I did good, I only fell once when I was trying to pull off a trick!

Thanksgiving

On the 4th Thursday in November each year, America celebrate Thanksgiving, they eat turkey and are thankful. I don’t think a lot of Americans actually know what they are celebrating, I have asked around and never really gotten a clear answer. Wikipedia say they are thankful to God and thankful for a good harvest.
I am thankful for my family, I wish I got to see them more frequently. I am also thankful for my awesome friends!

We were not really feeling the turkey, thought a chicken would do!

Chicken had to spend some time in the oven… What to do? Watch The Godfather!

We took a break in the movie watching to eat the roasted chicken.

We were gonna watch all 3 of the Godfather movies, but it took us about 6 hours to finish the first one, and I fell asleep about 5 minutes into the second one.

New Baby!

I bought a new lens today! 18-200mm, I can’t wait to try it out!

Cabin crew, arm your doors for departure and crosscheck.

We checked out Los Angeles from the birds eye view today.

Santa Monica Bay

The Pier

I always get lost in the tiniest of towns, but I don’t remember ever getting lost in Los Angeles. I actually find it super easy to find my way around Los Angeles, you ether go north, south, east or west, all you need is to check on the sun to find out which direction you are facing!

Your co-pilot!

The Southern California coast line.

I’ve been flying a bunch of times before, and I’ve even jumped out of planes a couple of times, but I have never been in the front seat before, it was super cool!

Downtown Los Angeles

We made it back to sea level just in time, I was THIIIIS close to being sick all over the plane…

It wasn’t me!

This is apparently how it goes down around here while Yours Truly is a good student and deep asleep; friends staying up all night watching the sunrise. At least they were kind enough to document it with my camera!

Civil War Event

After the hike today, we drove up to Moorpark to check out the Civil War event they had going on this weekend. I realized I should probably study some American history as I didn’t know much about the civil war. Here’s some shots from the show.
