JapanLA’s 5 Year Anniversary Art show

JapanLA turned 5 and we went to the party. Off course, Hello Kitty was there, and someone was in heaven!

I should get myself some of them shoes!

These two random guys wanted me to take a photo of them, so here it is!

We found a Martin Hsu original, that guy is everywhere!

I wonder if he got inspired to this painting by our cat White…

Nice little man spray painted on the pavement outside.

Culver City Art Walk 2011

We talked about the Culver City art walk last weekend and thought we had missed it this year, but it turned out it’s this weekend!
I was a little disappointed with this year’s art walk, didn’t find much inspiring art.

We walked by this place, and decided we’ll open up a pub here, but leave it looking like an abandoned building from the outside.

What you got there?

Street art!

This looks like my notes from school;

First Fridays at the Natural History Museum

Every first Friday of the month for the first half of the year, KCRW – the radio station, is putting up a show at the Natural History Museum in Los Angeles; DJ’s, live music, alcohol and dinosaurs!

It’s difficult for me to wrap  my head around that this has actually been a live animal!

I love museums, and I had never been to the Natural History Museum before, I will have to go back there to check out everything I didnt get a chance to see tonight!

Superkickass at WWA Gallery

I had never been to the WWA Gallery, which is funny cos it’s right in the middle of Downtown Culver City.  They had an exhibition opening, so we went there to check it out.

It turned out to be a nice gallery with a bunch of cool art!

AD 2010 Gallery Show

My friend finished her Advertising Design class at UCLA Extension, and we were invited to come see their work.
Here’s a campaign for MOCA’s street art exhibition.

One of my favorite campaigns were “What if designers were cut out of the equation”.

It was nice to come back to school and catch up with old class mates and teachers.

The Date Farmers at Ace Gallery

We went to Ace Gallery to check out the opening night of the Date Farmers exhibition.
It was a different crowd that what we were used to at a gallery, more upscale dressed up buyers and not so many colorful fun people.
The art was mixed media and street art, but I was not very impressed. I am not a big fan of mixed media but love street art. This did not speak to me though, I want bigger and bolder statements.

Hello Kitty and pals celebrate 50 years!

I never been a huge Hello Kitty fan, but Sanrio is having a week long party at the Santa Monica airport for their 50th anniversary. Martin Hsu was asked to make a painting for the gallery, so we had to check it out!

A bunch of other artists were also asked to do paintings, here are some of the ones that I liked the most:

There were a lot of fun stuff to do, I wanted to try the miniature golf, but there were no time for it, maybe next time…
