Catalina Island

I’ve heard many good things about Catalina Island and have been wanting to go for some time, I thought it was a good opportunity to go with my parents.
I also want to visit Queen Mary, but will have to do that next time.
Saying goodbye to Long Beach.
About half way over to the Island we came across some dolphins on the hunt for food. Hundreds of them! It was very awesome, I have never seen so many dolphins at once before!

We arrived at Avalon, Catalina Island after about 60 minutes and was welcomed by a pelican.

It turned out, Catalina Island is like different country, I loved it and can’t believe I have not been here before. It’s less than two hours away and it is very awesome!

We had about 6 hours on the island, but there’s a lot more to explore on the island! Next time I want to stay over night!

San Diego Day 2

We took a guided tour through the streets of San Diego on one of those old school busses.

Started off by driving thorough the Gaslamp Quarter, my favorite part of the town.

The view of downtown San Diego from the bridge over to Coronado Island.

One of many museums in Balboa Park.

Back to the Gaslamp District.

Stone Brewing co.

I love the Stone Brewing Company and was super excited to visit the brewery in Escondido!
We got there early and had time for a beer out on the patio before the tour of the brewery.

San Diego

We rolled into San Diego this afternoon for a short get-away.

My first time in San Diego and I fell in love with the city right away!

I thought I took a lot more photos, but it seems like I was busy just soaking up the atmosphere.

Downtown LA

Took my parents to a tour Downtown, first stop was the Disney Concert Hall.

Angels Flight, the worlds shortest railway, was the second stop.

The view from the park by the Angels Flight;

Ice cream break!

The Art District is my favorite part of Downtown.

Rattlesnake sousage at the Wurstkuche.

The Getty Villa

I finally made it to the Getty Villa!  I have never been a big fan of the Getty Center, not my kind of art, but the Getty Villa is a place you have to visit, especially if you have studied art and have lived in Los Angeles for 5 years.
We took the architect tour which was very interesting, they made this corner to make you feel like you were standing in an archeological dig with all the different layers in the ground.

They made the cement look like wood, super cool!

This looks like real construction, but it’s “just” a painting. Amazing!

Detailed decorations!

There’s a real mummy in the museum, super fascinating!

The garden pool.

After the Getty Villa, we headed over to Malibu Pier for lunch.

Visitors!

Picking up my parents from the airport, super excited as I have not seen them for 16 months!

Birthday Celebration Continues

My birthday was on Tuesday, and I’ve been celebrating all week. Some friends came over tonight, and Meg brought her bagpipe over and played me Happy Birthday!
We finally got to taste the Blossa Glogg X! It was good, but didnt taste much of saffron as promised, it just tasted like regular glogg to me.
