San Diego

The troublemakers are here! We started off with road tripping to San Diego for the day!

The universe didn’t want me to be so excited so this happen.

Now I have to figure out what to do next with this phone. I have not had much luck with it.
First thing first though, let’s get something to eat!

I like San Diego, it has a more chill atmosphere than Los Angeles, and the buildings look cool.

We didn’t stay long in San Diego and took the coast home, stopping in Laguna Beach for ice cream.

LAX

My friends were supposed to get in yesterday, but they were 26 hours delayed. It all worked out to the better, now I had time to tidy up my place and pick them up at the airport.

Bye Bye Mammoth

Or as I like to say it; Let’s close this shit down!
Even though they got a bunch of snow over the weekend and the mountain stays open for another month, this will highly likely be my last ski day of the season.

Slasher and his posse is moving houses in a few days. I made sure I’m busy all through May so I don’t have to help with the move.

Sockerbit Los Angeles

I have a severe sweet tooth. I have somewhat managed to curb it while in US, because frankly the sweets here sucks. It either tastes like petroleum or has a unnatural sweetness to it. Same goes with baked goods, not so hot in the US of A. They put cream cheese in the Danish Pastries for example. “Cheese Danish”? Please people, it’s supposed to be grandma couch, not cheese!
I got a text from a friend that they’ve open a Swedish candy store by the Grove. We had to set up a candy date!

I got flashbacks to when I was a kid. We had two candy stores in the town where I grew up. One overpriced chain store called Jam Jam. Is this store still around? No one in my generation seemed to like the candy in this store. We much more preferred Ebbas with the old lady behind the counter that gave you free samples. Ebba retired though, and no one wanted to take over the store so it closed down. So sad.

I like that it is a bit of a hassle for me to get to Sockerbit, if it was walkable, I would probably be there every other weekend.

Gravlax

After what was probably the most stressful day at work ever, and shopping for new ski pants (which was way more fun), it was time for happy hour at Bigfoot West. When happy hour was over a few of us realized we skipped dinner and felt we needed to eat.
Gravlax, a new restaurant just open up on the west side, they serve Scandinavian and Turkish Cuisine. I had a Toast Skagen and it was amazing! The turk had something turkish, and I’m sure that was good as well.

Sushi Night

There’s nothing better than being picked up at the airport and getting fed by friends!

Everyone laughs at my version of Sushi… California Roll, wrapped in soy paper.

Pooltime!

It’s hot! I now declare it summer. Let’s jump in the pool!
Still trying to figure out how the waterproof camera is working.

After the play in the pool (and a massage) we headed up to Hollywood to see Wes Andersons new movie Budapest Hotel.

Birthday Dinner and Party

Martin is in town, and it is his birthday so we had to go out for dinner! We went to Osteria La Buca in Hollywood.

I gave up gluten for Lent. Don’t ask me why… You do get one cheat day a week though and my cheat day is Saturday, so a beer was a given. You can’t beat having a drink out of a jar, right?

We headed over to Sawtelle and GR2 that was celebrating 20 years of business.

ABC Casa

Today was the end of an era. We said our last goodbye to the ABC Casa. A and C moved out over a year ago, but B is moving out next weekend so we had a last party.

As you can see, I have some serious model skills and are super comfortable in front of the camera…
Ok, I am out of here.

Left and Right

I have skied with left and right stickers on my skis for 10 years. It’s not because I always need a specific ski on one foot or the other, its more of a combination on me liking to ski fast and don’t know left and right; when someone behind me shouts “go left” I can quickly look down and see which way to go.
This on the other hand means that the edges on one side of my skis wears out more than the other. I have old skis, but they don’t have a ton of ski days on them, so they’ve been working okay. Until yesterday when I switched skis with my friend for a couple of runs. All of a sudden I could actually get some nice carving turns in, and my friend was sliding around like Bambi.
I ordered a new pair of skis yesterday, and switched my skis around today. I had to do some extra left and right thinking and will have to come up with a new solution for my new skis.

It wouldn’t hurt if we got some more snow still.
