Camping

I was worried about the upcoming camping trip due to my recent doctors visit, but after just one day of eating the lucky pills I came back to life!
We didn’t have any reservations for a camping site but we still wanted to go camping. Considering it was a long weekend, I was a little worried we wouldn’t get a spot and would have to return home with the tail between our legs.
But a little bit of driving around and we finally found a spot at the Los Prietos Campground.

CicLaVia

They closed down Wilshire Blvd from LACMA to downtown LA for motor vehicles and open it up for bicycles!

Care fore some rum?

Aaah, so good!

Wait, was that a police just rolling by?

It was already past noon, so we had to stop for a beer break!

There were a lot of people downtown, I wish they did this more often!

This should be standard on all bicycles!

Going for a Swim

I get to go home early from work almost every Friday. It is especially great on a beautiful day like this!
I headed over to Fandyland to jump in the pool.

Fei was all busy with her plants.

Once the plants were done she got so excited that she forgot to take her shorts off before jumping in the pool!

Las Vegas

No Vegas trip is complete without a stop at a buffet! Since we were tired from driving, we all fell asleep early last night, and woke up early this morning! We headed over to the Excalibur buffet when we saw a sign of all you can eat all day at both Excalibur and Luxor for $32! We had to confirm, and it was really true; breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet, all for $32!
We had breakfast at Excalibur, it was really poor. Jumped in the pool and came back for a quick lunch before heading out to the outlets. Lunch was better, but still not awesome.
We went over to Luxor for dinner and I got to eat a colony of Alaskan Crabs! With a side of mashed potatoes, off course!

We stayed at Excalibur, because it looks cool!

There is a few things I like to do whenever I am in Las Vegas – eat buffet, gamble for $20, and check out the seasonal decoration at Bellagio. May was apparently Holland month.

We saw the Bellagio water show from a distance, but wanted to get up close. We hanged out for a while and started to wonder, shouldn’t it start soon, hasn’t it been more than 15 minutes? A quick search on the phone and we realized it was past 2am and the show is not running during at night. Lame, I thought everything was 24h in Vegas!
Got the classic shot of Paris though.

Yeah, we went shopping earlier – a lot of Vans shoes!

Joshua Tree & Las Vegas

I took Friday off from work and we knew we wanted to go somewhere, but not where we wanted to go. Around lunch we made an impulse reservation in Las Vegas, rented a car and headed out!
Erik made himself comfortable in the backseat.
Driving Los Angeles – Las Vegas takes approximately 4 hours on a good day with no traffic. We were in no hurry though, so we took the long route through Joshua Tree and Mojave National Preserve.

Some 9 hours later I was deadly sick of driving and just wanted to make it there. Veronica thought I drove like a crazy woman and was not comfortable in the drivers seat, but we made it there safe and sound! Yay for Vegas!

Downtown Art Walk & In N Out Burger

It’s been a while since I been to the Downtown LA Art Walk, and it’s not quite what it used to be. It used to be a lot of interesting art. Now it feels like it’s been a little commercialized with companies sending out girls to give out free samples of sodas.

Food truck stop!

We didn’t stay downtown for that long before we headed back to the beloved Culver City.
I live across the street from an In n Out Burger, which is considered to be the best fast food restaurant according to the ones who knows. I’m not a fan of fast food, but since it’s THE fast food chain, we stopped by on the way home for a shake.
Erik got the privilege to go order a burger for himself and 3 milkshakes.

He came back all happy with 3 extra shakes – they’d forgotten they’d already given him three, so he was given three extras! Ok, maybe I am starting to like In n Out Burger.

Muscles at Meet

I used to be able to hammer out a lot of muscles at the All You Can Eat nights at Meet. I have gotten weaker though, and can only do two and a half bowls. Got to step it up for next time!
Artichokes for the vegetarians!

The Swedes Are Here!

Veronica and Erik is here, how exciting!
First things first, have to go eat at Native Foods!

Going to the supermarket with these guys were like going to a candy store with kids; they were stoked for everything and bought what felt like pretty much the whole store. My fridge has never ben this full, and will probably never be again.

Having a fridge full of groceries makes me a little uncomfortable, but they promised they will eat it all before they leave.
