Camping day 2

Today was one of those mornings when I needed to get up to go to the restroom but waited it out as long as possible in the hopes that someone else would be awake and start the fire.

Someone had seen something on some TV show how they made scrambled eggs in a ziploc bag, it wasn’t super quick, but we had fun doing it.

We went for a hike after breakfast, there wasn’t really a marked out trail, we just picked a direction and started walking.

Someone managed to get me in a photo! Classic “rest on one hip” pose, I really should stop doing that.

Came back to the site and played Cards Against Humanity.

Columbus Day hike

It’s Columbus Day! He was a bit of an ass, but I got the day off so me and my neighbor went hiking in Solstice Canyon in the Santa Monica Mountains.

Beach time after hike, yay!

Snake!

Hiked up the hill today and crossed paths with this fella.

Stopped by the fruit stand on my way home and had an awesome lunch!

Back in Los Angeles

Right back at it and hiking the Baldwin Hills. It doesn’t count if you don’t take a photo!

Cat Duty at the Winn

I have been put on cat duty.

Didn’t take Whitey many seconds before he crawled up in my lap. Awww, he loves me!

As I was about to leave I noticed this – is it something we should be worried about?

Since I was lazy this morning and didn’t walk to work, it was nice to get a text message in the afternoon asking if I wanted to hike up the hill before dinner!

Horseshoe Lake Hike

Headed up to Mammoth for the weekend. I got lazy and didn’t bring my camera, which I off course regretted right away. Now I have to rely on the iPhone camera throughout the weekend. I am not gonna allow myself to be lazy and not bring my camera from now on…
I was excited for Mammoth, I have never been here during the summer before.
We did a short ~90 minute hike around the Horseshoe Lake and it was beautiful! I know the town is called Mammoth Lakes, but I’ve never paid attention to the lakes part, only really cared about the mountains.

I read up on these dead trees; apparently the mother earth is releasing a bunch of carbon dioxide that are suffocating the poor trees.

The hike wasn’t that tough, so there were still some energy left for a bucket of golf balls.

This driving range is super chill!

Best part of the day;

I was helping out with some interior design in the new house, we managed to put the hooks up on an almost straight line.

They have this chandelier in the house, it’s way awesome!

Topanga Lookout Trail

I’ve been wanting to do this hike for many years. I’ve seen photos of the spray painted platform at the end of the trail and it was supposed to be an easy hike with stunning views.
There were some heavy clouds rolling in over the mountains this morning though so we couldn’t see squat. Great for hiking, not so great for the view.

We were not so upset about the clouds. We have seen these mountains and the view many times before, our target was that spray painted platform. It was pretty easy to spot the trail, just follow the tags!

After a short hike we arrived at this tower. We got super excited but also very confused; was this it? It doesn’t look anything like on the photos, and this one was fenced off, you were supposed to be able to walk on it!

I quick look at the directions which said “follow the ridge past the tower”.

We started to get a little suspicious when the trail got smaller and smaller, and when we eventually hit these boulders we thought it’d be a good idea to look a little closer on those directions. Yep, we made a wrong turn.

Got a different view of the tower on our way back.

This path looks much better!

We made it to the Topanga Lookout! It used to be a fire tower, but then I read somewhere that it burnt down, ironically.

I forgot my spray paint at home, but we brought snacks!

The whole thing took us two hours, which was great. Gives us time for a speed nap before the afternoon shenanigans start.

Will Rogers Hike

Did a short hike today. I thought I was gonna die after about 10 minutes hike straight up.

Best part with the Will Rogers Park – It’s on the west side and you get stunning views and a bit of a sea breeze!

Worship Will Rogers State Historic Park!

Beach 2014 Here I Come
