Museum of Jurassic Technology

I had some time to kill and finally had the opportunity to visit the Museum of Jurassic Technology in Culver City.
They’ve got a bunch of really weird stuff, like this horn that was found in the back of someones neck, I say it’s just a dread lock!

A collection of letters sent to Pasadena Observatory about black holes in the sun, stars and how God created the world.

It turned out the museum was much larger than I thought so I did not have time to explore even a 10th of the museum! I have to come back another time!

First Fridays at the Natural History Museum

Every first Friday of the month for the first half of the year, KCRW – the radio station, is putting up a show at the Natural History Museum in Los Angeles; DJ’s, live music, alcohol and dinosaurs!

It’s difficult for me to wrap  my head around that this has actually been a live animal!

I love museums, and I had never been to the Natural History Museum before, I will have to go back there to check out everything I didnt get a chance to see tonight!

11 Things to do in 2011

I’ve set up a list of things that I want to have accomplished by the end of 2011;

  1. re-design my website www.popnea.com. Not sure how, just know that I want an update.
  2. read 5 books. I am not a very good reader, and I usually get restless and don’t finnish the book. I think it’s been 5 years since I read a book.
  3. run three 5k’s. I enjoy running, but I’m lazy. This will keep me motivated to get out and run throughout the year. My goal is to run a 5k under 30 minutes, it doesn’t have to be this year though.
  4. visit a city in the US that I have not previously been to. Time to get to know the rest of America!
  5. go to 5 concerts (just go to the local pub or go see some friend of a friends band play does not count). I used to go see a lot of bands, then I moved to the US and I stopped, now I want to get back into it.
  6. camp out. I don’t know why I put this up here. I’m gonna be freaked out by the wilderness.
  7. stay up and watch the sunrise. This is another stupid thing on the list. I have stayed up to see the sunrise before, but I guess it’s gonna be done again.
  8. visit Catalina Island. An island 20 something miles southwest of LA, it’s supposed to be beautiful.
  9. take a beginners class in Spanish. After 5 years in southern California, it’s time to learn the language! Habla?
  10. visit 5 museums I have not been to. There’s a lot of interesting museums out there!
  11. volunteer for a soup kitchen. It’s time to give back!

Halloween at LACMA

The pineapple I got earlier during the day turned out to come in handy, I used it as a re-fill throughout the night, very eco-friendly!

I had not planned to go to the LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art) Muse Costume Ball, but managed to score free tickets, and since there was an open mashed potatoes buffet, I thought why not?

It seems like every party in LA have a photo booth, I love it! Here’s me and my pineapple hanging out with some buddies.

Pearl Harbor

I woke up this morning in a cottage by Barbers Point Beach on Oahu, Hawaii, not too bad!

I was so excited and walked down to feel the temperature of the water straight from bed, without even paying a visit to the restroom!
After a short stroll on the beach, I took the car into Honolulu to check out Pearl Harbor.
I love history and have always been a huge fan of national history museums and such and was excited to get to visit the Pearl Harbor. I studied the 2nd world war in school, but the main focus was whatever the europeans was involved in, not so much what was going on between the Americans and and Asians.

You could pay $10 and get on to t submarine, I didnt think it was worth it and just looked at it fro a distance instead.
The memorial for everyone that passed away in the Pearl Harbor attack.

There was a lot of construction and “coming soon” going on, so it wasnt as good as I had hoped, but they had build a really cool memorial over the sunken battle ship USS Arizona that you got to take short boat ride out to.

I thought it would be lame, just some kind of monument with a bunch of names, but it turned out the ship was still laying there underneath you with some parts still sticking up from the ocean, super cool!

The USS Arizona was huge, the red circle is the end of the ship, about 1/3rd of the ship is still behind me.
There is still oil leaking from the ship, I wonder why they cant clean that up, but I’m sure theres a reasonable exclamation for it.

Back in shore, I thought these roots were interesting!

Came back to the beach cottage and jumped in the ocean before it was time to get ready for a night of party.
