Coachella Day 2

Camping out in the desert means two things; you are not gonna be cold and you will wake up early!

Since I’d already been up for several hours at 10:30am, I think it is ok to have a beer before noon.

The campsite is so clean and structured, all in tidy rows!

Major Lazer was amazing! Everyone was crazy and took their shirts off halfway through the set!

Coachella

I’ve been wanting to go to Coachella ever since I heard about it my first summer in Los Angeles 9 years ago. The first few years because I am a music freak and I love watching bands and drunk stupid kids and eat festival food. As I grew older I wanted to go mostly because I feel it is something I should have done. This year I finally got a wrist band!

We got up at cracker dawn, stopped by the store to pick up food, drinks and ice and arrived at the festival site at 10am. We were welcomed by a 3h line to get in. The security checked every single bag (almost) in every single car to make sure no glass or sharp objects were brought in – awesome! Good thing to know we are safe at the festival though.

We made it in, pitched our tent, and off we go!

Started off mellow with Youth Lagoon – last time I saw him was in a tiny record store in Echo Park.

The snail liked him!

Only a few hours into day one and my feet are already super dirty! Doesn’t hurt that I always need 5000 layers of sunblock on my feet that seems to attract dirt.

We saw Johnny Marr which was really good, he played a bunch of old Smiths songs, and that’s always welcome!

An Elvis hybrid was there!

The classic festival ground photo… I probably wanted to take a photo of something else.

Lee Scratch Perry was most likely very high, such a character!

Stone Roses played all their hits, but were still fairly bad. I always think it’s hilarious to watch the sign language person by the side of the stage though, always entertaining!

A Silent Film at the Troubadour

I was excited to go see Gold Fields at the Troubadour tonight, but it turned out they were super boring live. A Silent Film was supporting thought, and they were really good!

Icona Pop at the Troubadour

We went bowling this afternoon, so much fun!

We made up silly names, I was Handi Cap, thinking I was hilarious!

Icona Pop played at the Troubadour tonight, they were awesome!

They invited everyone up on stage during the last song, so much party!

Rock n Roll Camp for Girls Fundraising Event

My friend works with the organisation Rock n Roll Camp for Girls and I was invited to a fundraiser at a huge party house in Santa Monica, the house was amazing!
The two-girl band Two Piece Extra Spicy played a few songs, they were totally rocking it!

Nik West apparently just came back from touring with Prince and was playing base and sang a couple of songs for us.

Since it was a fundraiser, I spend $20 on the lottery and won a Fender Stratocaster!
I’m gonna have to learn how to play it now!

KCRW Masquerade Ball

I did not grow up with Halloween and don’t care to much about it, but it is fun to socializing with friends! We went to KCRW’s Masquerade Ball this year.

We all dressed up as zombies.

A bunch of bands and DJ’s were playing, Z-trip did an amazing set!

Culture Collide

The music festival Culture Collide is happening in Silverlake this weekend. A bunch of bands from all over the world are playing, and you get a wristband for $20 for the entire weekend, very awesome!

Patrick Wolf made an awesome acoustic show in the church!

This is definitely a festival worth checking out again next year!

Totally 80’s Night at the Hollywood Bowl

The Go-Go’s,  The Psychedelic Furs,  The Motels  and Bow Wow Wow played the bowl, I did not have very high expectations, but it turned out to be a great night! We sneaked up to the more expensive seats as well, which made the whole thing even better!

Roxette at the Gibson Amphitheatre

We went to see Roxette at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal Studios, it was awesome! Last time (and the only time) I saw them I think I was 6 or 7 years old. I thought the show was gonna be a little dull, but it was actually really good! I guess their songs are a part of my blood stream, just like ABBA.
