Big Bear Weekend
We lost a few at lunch, beer tend to do that to people, but I had so much fun so I skipped the lunch beer.
Gourmet dinner in our luxury cabin!
Chocolate cake while watching the winter olympics after a day on the mountain. That’s how all birthdays should be celebrated!

Snow Summit
I’m fairly busy right now, so I should’ve stayed home to do laundry and get my stuff together for the holidays, BUT… there’s snow in the mountains! I have enough clean clothes for another week.
So after all these years I always thought Big Bear was just Big Bear. I didn’t know there were Bear Mountain and Snow Summit and that I’ve actually been skiing Snow Summit and not Big Bear. Ha! I guess that’s a little ignorant!
Anyways, Snow Summit had made a great job with the snow making and the conditions were much better than I expected this early on in the season! So happy I managed to get a day on the mountain in before the end of the year!
I love Christmas, but we drove by this house on the way home, and I thought it was a little over the top.
Dec 10, Out Of Bounds Stout
What, Seriously? Hells Yeah! I already knew it was gonna be a 5 out of 5 when I unwrapped this and saw the label…
Out Of Bounds Stout from Avery Brewing Co, Boulder, Colorado. 6.3% alc/vol. How could you possibly go wrong?
It is really an amazing stout too, not just the name and label, the taste was awesome as well! Like a really good dark and smooth chocolate, you don’t need a whole lot, one bottle and you’ll be satisfied, but you never actually want it to end. There’s no way you can top this, everything about this makes me extremely happy. It’s a 5+ out of 5! The first 5+ in 8 years!
The label says;
Experts only ♦ ♦
This big, roasty stout takes flavor to the extreme. We aren’t afraid to use a ton of roasted barley and a mountain of hops to give this full-bodied stout that little extra something you’ve been looking fo.
Brewed with Rocky Mountain water, malted barley, hops, and yeast.
On a side note, someone marked this ABS on the wrap, what does that mean?
Oh yeah, totally watching the Swedish broadcasting of Serious Request. Love it!
Mt Baldy
Mt Baldy is just some 90 minute drive from my place and I found a cheap Groupon for half off on lift tickets so I thought it was totally worth checking out.
I got a lot of nostalgia feelings and starting to think of the small club fields in New Zealand when we got there as it was super tiny with old lifts and portable toilets.
Big Bear
Halfway up the hill we started to see smoke coming up and I thought I made a joke saying “oh look, a truck is on fire!” But then the traffic started to move more slowly and eventually came to a complete stop. We were sitting still for two hours, good times! Turned out a car did caught on fire.
We finally made it up the hill, only made it to a half day of skiing, but totally worth it!
