Jaipur

Jaipur is known as the Pink City, I think they got jealous of Jodpur the Blue City, so they painted all pink.

This is where the current king of Rajasthan lives – I think.

This is the larges single piece of silver according to the Guinness Book of Records. The brits apparently did not care to much about the silver.

From Agra to Jaipur

We all jumped in the Bus Deluxe and drove 5 hours to get to Jaipur. We saw a lot of interesting things along the way!

Agra Fort

This is where the king who built Taj Mahal was put in house arrest, at least he got a good view.

After the Agra Fort sightseeing, we went to a rug factory to see how those were made.

Taj Mahal

We woke up in cracker dawn to visit Taj Mahal, because the guide said it looks best in sunrise or sunset.

It is pretty impressive! I wonder if I am gonna get a grave like this when I die.

You can see the foundation of the black Taj Mahal across the river that the king was gonna build for himself so he could have his final rest side by side to his favorite wife. But his son stepped in and said “You are not gonna spend all that money that I am supposed to heritage, I am putting you in house arrest instead!” so it was never completed.

Apparently all the details used to be in gold according to our tour guide, but then the brits came “and took all the gold and replaced it with copper.”

En Route to Agra

We rented a luxurious bus and a driver to drive us around Rajasthan. We saw a bunch of snake charmers along he way.

Gandhi House

Mahatma Gandhi was born in Gujarat and hanged a bunch in Ahmedabad. He founded this Ashram that is now serving as a youth recreation center for poor kids.

This is where Gandhi used to chill, he did not care to much about material things.

Garba Party

We stayed in this hotel for a few nights.

Wild monkeys were hanging out!

Street vendors are preparing for Diwali later this month.

We went to a Garba party later in the evening, I almost got the steps down, but it was difficult to move around in a sari!

Now, everybody watch while this white man eat this thing…

Family Time

The rest of my family showed up today, we went fabric shopping and out for a good meal.
