Shanghai Brunch Buffet

The Ritz Carlton have a 12 Martini Brunch every Sunday. I am not a Martini girl myself so I stuck to the Champagne, but everyone else had plenty.

Ah, the shellfish buffet! Everything you ever need!

Las Vegas

I love Las Vegas! I am not so much into gambling or walking around in 8″ heels, I am more into watching people making a fool out of themselves!
I’m gonna gave a wine cellar like this one day!

We came across a slot contest, very interesting! It seems like the one who could hit the button most time during a 15 minute time slot won $15 000.

Tourists with jogging shoes, a must!

I am not sure if this is the good or the bad part of Las Vegas…

Christmas Day

I woke up in cracker dawn to take the first flight out of Denver to make it in time for Christmas lunch in Hacienda Heights.
Spending Christmas with my LA family is the next best thing to spending Christmas with my Swedish family!
We started off with a Gingerbread House Decoration Contest. We teamed up two and two and my team made an awesome 4 story house! Unfortunately, the rest of the teams took too long to put their houses together and the icing provided to glue the houses together was not that great, so our house fell apart.
My teammate Annie is a quick thinker though so we named our project Sandy after the recent west coast storm, so we managed to win the contest!

After all the fun and games it was time to get serious with the White Elephant Gift Exchange.

I scored a bottle of wine!

1st of Advent

So today is really the first day of Christmas, and since I love Christmas so much, I had to decorate the house! I walked down the street to pick up a tree.
Then home to decorate and make gingerbreads.

First taste of this years glogg!

Julian

We took a day trip today from San Diego to a small gold mine town called Julian, it’s a really really tiny town with just one street, but it is famous for the apple pies.
I have never been much of a pie person and I am always suspicious to vanilla ice cream, but since this is what they are famous for, I had to try it. It was ok, but I am still not convinced.

We stopped by Lenora Winery on the way home, excellent wines!

Back in San Diego we headed out to La Jolla beach, and it was crowded, makes me appreciate the Los Angeles beaches that rarely gets this crowded.

Wait, doesn’t everyone bring a grill to the beach?

Wine Tasting in Santa Ynez

It was already dark when we came to the campground last night, so we set up our tents, had a small BBQ and headed off to bed. The  nice thing with camping is that you tend to always wake up bright and early!
On the schedule for today was wine tasting in the Santa Ynez Valley, outside Solvang. We had no real plan, just drove around to see what we could find.
We started off with Andrew Murray Vineyards.

A kind of hidden location behind the big Firestone vineyard, or actually, Andrew Murray Vineyards are renting a spot on one of Firestones big fields and it was kind of difficult to find, but it was well worth it once we got there.

Since we were already in the hood, we thought we’d might as well stop by the Firestone as well.

You can get Firestone everywhere, I think they might even export their wines.

We had one more stop scheduled, but were gonna meet up with some more friends and they were running late, so we stopped by Curtis Winery as well for some tasting and picnic. Turns out Curtis is also a part of the Firestone Wine Family.

We were all a little tired and tipsy and felt it was nap time, but we had decided we were gonna meet up with our friends at the Zaca Mesa Winery. We were still early so I was wandering around a bit.

I found their steel barrels that were recycled Pepsi Cola barrels.

Zaca Mesa was the last stop for the day, and also the best wine!

Wine Tasting

My room mate found a deal for wine tasting at the Winehouse that was expiring today so we had to use it. Never done this type of tasting before, when you get a value card and get to go into a room and get to taste away all by yourself, kind of like a vending machine!

Saturday Night

The belt broke on my scooter on my way to work the other day, it is apparently really easy to fix yourself, but I took it in to the shop, just to be on the safe side.

I had a super mellow night at home last night, and I was just about to go to bed at midnight when I got a text from my room mate who was on his way home and asked if I was still awake.

3 hours and two bottles of wine later…
