Homebound

I told granpa we wanted to go stop by Vafflan by Italienska Vagen on the way home, but that was not approved. “Over priced and not worth it” was the word, and “I have waffle mix at home we can make” yeah, but we kind of wanted… “Let’s at least make a test run!” yes, why not, I guess he really wanted waffles! It turned out though, that he actually did not have any waffle mix at home and I could tell how disappointed he was, so I suggested we’d drive down to Kattvik and have waffles there instead. Granpa likes to be stubborn so he was hesitant at first, but I asked him a second time and it didnt take him long before he was waiting for us by the car.

Kattvik is probably one of my favorite little harbors. Old school fishermen and summer guests away from the buzz in town.

We still wanted to stop by Vafflan on the way home. It wasnt a big deal for me, but I had never been before, and if we would not stop by this time, I would probably never do it.

Once we wolfed down a second set of waffles before lunch and strolled around town for a bit it was time to get back into the car and drive back to Katrineholm.

We stopped by Gränna of course to pick up a couple of Polkagrisar (Polka Pigs). They’re like candy cane, but way better, and you can only get them in this town.

I used to be crazy for Polkagrisar when I was younger, but I think I grew out of it. I still like them a lot, but I’m not as obsessed with them as I used to be.

We also stopped by Brahehus. We used to stop by the restaurant on the way down to my grandparents all the time, but I had never actually made it out to the ruins. I always thought it was an old fort, built with the view over the lake, but it turns out it was just another castle. Good thing we stopped by today so I got that straightened out!

The views from the ruins are stunning!
