Hot Pot Dinner

Saturday night was friends get together night with hot pot.

Hot Pot is pretty much the Chinese version of fondue.

You toss everything in a boiling pot in the middle, forget about it for a while and get a surprise every time you fish up something you dont remember putting in.

I ate way too much, but there were still some room for dessert, I had made a cake for the birthday boy.

Solving the world problems over a game of Jenga at 1am.

Foster the People at the Echo

Foster the People are doing free shows at the Echo in Silverlake every Wednesday night through the rest of the month. We were there last night to check them out. It was really really good, and I’m hoping I can catch their last free show as well, anyone want to come with me?

Gangi was the supporting act, I really liked their music as well, and the singer kept on ending everything he said with “in a non-violent way”.

Aging Out

We were invited down to UC Irvine to see our friend perform in a musical.
We were not allowed to take photos, but I managed to get this one shot before we were kindly asked to put away our cameras.

The musical was a little depressing, about kids in foster care, but the performance was really good!

AD 2010 Gallery Show

My friend finished her Advertising Design class at UCLA Extension, and we were invited to come see their work.
Here’s a campaign for MOCA’s street art exhibition.

One of my favorite campaigns were “What if designers were cut out of the equation”.

It was nice to come back to school and catch up with old class mates and teachers.

End of a Good Weekend

I went for a half ass jog in the morning, but felt good about myself that I at least got out to get some exercise.  Then Cafe Brazil for brunch. I love how they have fruit bowls on the table that you can just help yourself to!
It was a rainy day, perfect opportunity to fill up the cookie jars!

Then friends over for dinner which ended in a big sketching party!

New Years Day

Woke up after just a few hours of sleep, not feeling too hot.

We went to Wood Cafe in hope of wolfing down a veggie breakfast burrito for brunch, but they were super busy, so I had to mentally prepare my body for some Brazilian Veggie Pasta at Cafe Brazil. When we got there, they were off course closed so we went for indian food t Samosa House instead, I think I can eat Samosa House any time any day!
We were all tired and thought we should take a nap to be able to stay awake for tonights festivities, but we didnt want to stay inside on such a beautiful day, so we went down to the beach for a nap.

Venice Beach pier with Santa Monica Mountains in the background.

We ended the day with heading over the hill to Burbank for a Rock Band party, I was surprised I managed to stay awake late for two nights in a row!

Happy New Year!

2010 was an in-between year for me, nothing too exciting happen in my life more than I got the Certificate in Advanced print and Design Communication.
We ended 2010 pretty low key with a Wine and Mystery dinner party with good friends.

I have a good feeling for 2011 and we started it off in style, with Champagne and a 5 hour dance party!

7 Sorters Kakor

I got this book today, the Swedish cookie bible! All translated into English, which is great, cos I dont have to think about how many dL goes in to a quart of milk and whats bikarbonat translated into English and so on.

I’ve already gotten two requests for cookies, gonna start baking this weekend!

Ladybird vs Ladybug

I spent a bunch of time in the UK before moving to the US, I adapted fairly quickly to the American way of pronouncing and the different words, but there are still a few British words that I like to use to my friends amusement. Especially if I’m tired, stressed or spaced out, I automatically go back to default. Plus there is a few British words that I like better, so I keep on using them.

I dont know how many times a day I have to correct myself from writing Colour instead of Color.
