Rain!

Pouring down with rain for most of the day today.

Abbot Kinney Festival

The heatwave continues and we biked down to Venice to check out the Abbot Kinney Festival.

It was as we suspected, hot and crowded, so we took care of first things first.
Getting food from food trucks is the hottest thing to do in LA right now, and the Grilled Cheese Truck is one of the most popular ones. Their headquarter is right by my work so I see the truck everyday, but I had never tried it before today.
I must say I dont get what the fuzz is all about, it’s just an overpriced grilled cheese sandwich!

Glow

After a cold shower and a nap, we headed down to Santa Monica last night to check out the Glow event. Everybody, let’s bring out our phones and text people!

It was my first time attending Glow, so I didnt know what to expect, all I knew was that it was gonna be a light show down at the beach.
It turned out to be pretty lame, it was very spread out and not very exciting. There were a couple of cool stations, like the lifeguard tower covered in bubbles.
The Venice Beach hippies had a station where they were doing a bunch of cool stuff with hula hoops, it was impressive.
My freaky hand!
That was basically it, a little disappointed. Headed to the pub instead.

Deer Valley Loop Hike 2.0

Thursday was the official day of fall, and today was the hottest day of the year so far! It doesnt say much, cos this summer has been weird, but it was over 100 degrees inland and in the 90’s by the beaches. We made a stupid decision to go on a hike today – why wouldn’t you? It’s the hottest day of the year! We made a re-visit to the Deer Valley Loop.

Just a mile into the hike we were starting to overheat and had to do plenty of stops in the shade.
The burnt down house is still (not) there.
The views are still stunning, but it was way to hot to enjoy it.
After a bunch of sweating and panting and thinking we’re all gonna die from a heart attack, we decided to cut the hike short, we were just gonna hit the high peak before turning around, not do the actual loop.
We still took every opportunity we could to take a breather in the shade.

We finally made it to the top, yay!

Tony’s Darts Away

We went to Tony’s Darts Away tonight, a vegan beer bar in Burbank. I got the beer flight. If I would have paid attention, I would have known what kind of beers I was drinking, but I didnt. The 3rd one was really good though, some kind of Pale Ale, super smokey!

Getting into work early = Getting home from work early!

I was asked to get into work one hour early today, I set the alarm super early hoping I’d get my butt up and do some work before I had to be in the office. It was a little depressing to see the screen on my phone.

5am – When I should wake up to get some work done at home
6am – When I should wake up to actually be awake when I get into the office
6:45am – My usual wake up call, the time I had to leave home today.
7:30am – Usually my last chance to wake up so I can be at work at 8am.

But, getting into work early also means I can get home early, my co-worker told me to go home and crack open a bottle of wine, so I did! It’s been a lot of drinking wine out of plastic cups lately, so it was nice to do it the proper today!
And then for dinner… I don’t think I want to know what is in the Abba Fiskbullar, but they are delicious!

Election Day

Woke up this morning with no particular plans when it hit me we had election in Sweden. I didnt vote because of many reasons, but mainly because I have no idea of what’s going on in Sweden. I also failed to inform the Swedish tax authorities about my most recent move, so I never got the document required to vote. I thought I would dedicate the day to Sweden though and scooted over to Shoop’s Delicatessen by Ocean Park, a cafe that sell northern European treats.

It’s been a while since I had Dumle, and I had almost forgotten how good they taste! I might have to go back tomorrow and buy another bag.
I cant really have opinions of the outcome in the election since I didn’t make my voice heard when they asked for it, but I am not particularly happy with the anti immigrant party getting 5.7% of the votes.
A little bummed out, I should probably vote in the next election.
Headed to the wig store instead, I want this wig!

Friday I’m in Love

Karaoke night!

The guys did an awesome version of Listen To Your Heart.
I dont remember which number we did here, but I’m sure we nailed it!

The aftermath;

Cheers to the ABC Casa!

I got a text from B (also know as Leogra) yesterday that I had to be home tonight cos he is making lasagna. I thought cool, I just have to do the final for my class and got tons of work to do, but that can wait when you’ve got someone cooking for you! He had also invited a bunch of friends over and I managed to finish and send in my final just before everyone arrived.

B had bought bubbly wine to go with the food, we drink a lot of wine, and a bunch of it is bubbly, a great opportunity to cheer for A (me) for surviving my project management class.
Cheers for A!

C (also known as Winndesigns) recently got offered and accepted a full time design job, cheers for C!

And then out of nowhere B announce he got his work visa approved! The little punk lied to me when I asked him about it yesterday, he said he will know in a couple of days when he already knew! Cheers to B!
