Dec 8th, Spaten Oktoberfest

I am happy to get some European flavors in the beer calendar! The beer for today was Spaten Oktoberfest, 5.9% Alc./Vol. From Munich, Germany

If a beer comes in a green bottle, it usually means it’s a lighter beer, like a lager or a pilsner and they are usually not what I prefer. This beer though was darker in color and had a lot of flavors! I like it! 4 out of 5!

Dec 7th, KBC Porter

The beer for today; Kennebunkport Brewing Co. Porter, from Portland, Maine.

5.6% Alc./Vol.
Another twist off cap – whats up with twist off caps?
Anyway, I poured it and had a sip and mmm, it’s good! I dont drink a lot of porter, but maybe I should start this one is really good! Lots of flavors with a burnt aftertaste. I love that burnt aftertaste!
I give this a 5 out of 5, will definitely have again!

Dec 6th, Shiner Bock

When I open up the beer today I was a little suspicious as I thought Shiner Bock was a light lager, and then I got even more suspicious when it was a twist off cap. Beers with twist off caps usually don’t leave a great impression in my book.

But there it was, Shiner Bock Beer, from Spoetzl Brewery, Shiner, TX. I was surprised when I poured it in my glass as I saw it was not a light lager and more of an ale. The first taste was a-ok, and as I kept on drinking, that fizzyness came over me like with a lot of other beers, a little too fizzy for my taste, but still ok. I give it 3 out of 5 and I will not judge you if you like to drink this beer.

The bottle says;
Handcrafted in the same brewery where it was first made back in 1913, this gently hopped medium brown brew is the pride of Shiner, Texas.
Bock Beer combines old world Bavarian heritage with American handcraft brewing for a smooth, delightful drinkable dark beer, Prosit!

Small Town, Small Brewery
Every drop of Shiner Beer is brewed right here in the Shiner, Texas (Pop, 2070), by a handful of local craftsmen who take pride in our little brewery, and our classic Shiner Bock. First brewed in 1913, this lightly-hopped, American-style bock has a cream flavor and a slightly sweet finish. We hope you enjoy drinking it as much as we enjoyed making it.

Repeal Day

Today is Repeal Day, we celebrated by going to the Del Monte Speakeasy in Venice. Just as we arrived they rang a bell – I didn’t think much of it and ordered three Old Fashioned’s for me and my friends. It turned out that the bell meant that all drinks were $1 in the bar, and it also turned out my friends had also bought 3 Old Fashioned’s each, so we were stuck with 9 between us… I could only finish 2 and gave my last one away. There is only so much Whiskey I can take in one day!

Dec 5th, Prohibition Ale

Today is Repeal Day, it was on this day, December 5th 1933, when the government allowed the use of alcohol again after 14 years of misery and banning of alcohol.
How appropriate that I got the Prohibition Ale from Speakeasy Ales & Lagers, San Francisco, CA as my advent beer today!

Aaah yes! was the words hat came out of my mouth as I had my first taste, just how I want my beer!
I have had this beer many times before and have a feeling I will have it many times again. One of my faves, definitely a 5 out of 5!
Wow, we are doing o good with the beers so far for this years calendar!

The label says;
Sssshhh! During prohibition, the masses were forced underground into the speakeasy. Hidden within streets of the city, friends gathered where music played and drinks were poured…
Prohibition Ale is a boldly, hopped amber ale that strikes a perfect balance between caramel maltiness and its aggressive hopping.

Dec 4th, Hangar 24 Alt Bier

The beer for today;
Alt-Bier Ale from Hangar 24 Craft Brewery, Redlands, CA.

Mmm was my first thought as I had my first sip. 5 out of 5!

A beautiful label that says;
Caramel, toasty and clean. This red ale is our unique version of a northern German Alt-Bier. Enjoy silky caramel smoothness, followed by toasty, bready flavors and finished with a hint of chocolate roast. These flavors all come through in the aroma and combine in a truly unique, very clean, complex, Alt-Bier

Rock n Roll Camp for Girls Fundraising Event

My friend works with the organisation Rock n Roll Camp for Girls and I was invited to a fundraiser at a huge party house in Santa Monica, the house was amazing!
The two-girl band Two Piece Extra Spicy played a few songs, they were totally rocking it!

Nik West apparently just came back from touring with Prince and was playing base and sang a couple of songs for us.

Since it was a fundraiser, I spend $20 on the lottery and won a Fender Stratocaster!
I’m gonna have to learn how to play it now!

Dec 3rd, Pipeline Porter

Today’s beer; Aloha Series Pipeline Porter with 100% Hawaiian Kona Coffee, from Kona Brewing Co. Kona, Hawaii.

Since I just recently started to enjoy drinking coffee, I was looking forward to this beer. It was a good beer over all and I give it 4 out of 5, but I wish it had a tad bit more of the coffee flavor, I could barley taste it. It is a good idea though, mixing beer with coffee, I am all for it!

The bottle says;
Pipeline Porter is full bodied with a rich, smooth, dark-roastes malt flavor. A selection of premium hops and 100% Hawaiian Kona coffee complete this limited brew.
Since 1994, Kona Brewing Co. has been committed to making handcrafted ales and lagers of uncompromised quality. We invite you to visit our brewery and pubs whenever you visit Hawaii. Mahalo!

Dec 2nd, La Rossa Birra Moretti Ale

Italy is not really famous for their beers, they are more into their wine I guess, but this beer; La Rossa  Birra Moretti ale, brewed by Heineken Italia, Italy was good for being Italian. It had not a lot of flavor and a little fizzy, but I expected a lot worst. 3 out of 5.

The bottle says:
Qualita E Tradizione

1st of Advent

So today is really the first day of Christmas, and since I love Christmas so much, I had to decorate the house! I walked down the street to pick up a tree.
Then home to decorate and make gingerbreads.

First taste of this years glogg!
